Title: Ryca battery
Post by Thumperman on 12/02/20 at 07:53:26

I just acquired a ryca CS1 but I need a battery to fit the new battery box. Can someone advise me what battery I need?
The Ryca website doesn’t have any info on the CS1 anymore

The RYCA conversion uses an OEM size battery. You can also install a much smaller and lighter LiFePH4 battery.

I tried installing the stock battery from my unmodified ‘97 Savage and it would not fit in the space.
The Ryca battery box is L-5.25” W-3.5” H-is 5.25”
Trying to search for a battery by size is a maddening exercise

Here's the battery I installed this summer. It fits the space perfectly.

Gary in NJ,
Do you use a conventional charger with it? I use a Battery Tender.

Battery Tender. If you disconnect the battery for the winter, a tender isn’t even necessary as the battery will remain nearly fully charged for 6 months. I have accessable charge points on all of my bikes and find it easier to plug the battery in once a month for a few hours then disconnecting it.

You really don't want to (or need to) tender Lithium batteries.  If you do you should use a lithium specific charger or make sure your charger meets the manufacturer's requirements.

I have been using a Lithium battery for the past few years with great results.  I leave it in my bike year round and have never had to charge it.

Ok, I got the Li battery that was posted as fitting and it fit the bill nicely. Came fully charged and is very good quality. Has a built in voltage tester button that you push and LEDs lite up. Also has terminals on both sides of the battery so it can be installed any way. Expensive but very impressive.
Thanks for the tips.
