Pretty fair assessment I think. Suzuki Savage.com even gets a mention.

That was a good read, there are some fans on ADVRider.  I'm a regular reader over there, lots of varied interests among their members.

A very good talk about our bike.
Its the bike that Harley should have done as a first bike for beginners!
And I have some complains too, they should put the spedometer above the headlamp!
And later get rid of the carburator and put in a injection system.. for exhauste control.. but mostly for better performance and handling.

I agree, Harley really missed out on recruiting new riders to their brand by not offering their own version of the Savage. The Buell Blast was a toad! If they'd built a savage style chassis for this engine, I bet they would've sold quite a few, provided they didn't overprice them too badly.

The speedometer is easy. It can even be done with all Suzuki parts. An Intruder speedometer is simple to mount on the fork crown, but you will need to use the tall risers for drag bars to clear the dash light cluster. The stock cable is too short to reach but the tach cable for a 70's GT750 is the right length for the speedometer cable. And you get a trip odometer a a bonus with that swap.

Those are great tips! Thanks Fast650!

I came up with that idea because I didn't like looking down at the tank to see the speedometer, and to mess with dealerships. Intruders have a neutral light, high beam, oil pressure, and one turn indicator in the dash cluster. I made new lenses so it has two turn indicators and rewired it to have the standard Savage indicators so it looks like it came that way from the factory.

Do you have any straight on photos of the gauge?  I’d love to see more.

This is a face view off the bike.

And a back view.

And an early shot on the bike when I was working out the wiring. The bars block the dash lights in this picture because I just slid it into place to test the wiring and it moved.

Very cool, thanks for sharing these!  That seems like an excellent solution. That gauge actually looks really good.

There are quite a few items from the Suzuki Intruder parts bin that are either direct bolt on or easily adapted.  Other than the fork tubes and muffler, this is all from the Suzuki parts bins. Suzuki could have easily produced them like this.

Exactly.. in my opinion!
Harley could have put a singel cylinder in a type of Savage frame, pushrods and two valves.. for beginners.
It dósent matter, my biker friends call my bike a girl bike, I dont care!
There girlfriends that is as old as they altso drive Harelys or Triumph or Ducati!
In my youth several girls was riding Yamaha SR 500!
