Title: Making sure mill is perpendicular

Not Savage or even bike related but I thought I'd check with you guys.

I have a small bench mill that I just use as a drill press but I would like to start using it more as a mill but I suspect the spindle is not perpendicular to the coordinate table. What is the easiest way to check this?

I'd chuck up an allen wrench and manually rotate it measuring height ablove the tabe to the end of the allen wrench in places around.
Measure, turn 180 degrees, measure,
Turn 90 degrees, measure, turn 180, measure,
If its off, thatll show it.

Concur with JOG.  Good quick & dirty check.  Get the allen wrench as close as possible to the table.  Use feeler gages to measure clearance in the four locations.

If you have a dial indicator,  attach it to the allen wrench and sweep the table 360 degrees.

Just don't use an overused allen wrench... ;D
