Title: 10% chance of rain my patootie Post by springman on 09/09/20 at 14:15:28 Report said 10% chance of rain. We've had short, strong showers for the last few hours. Guess who rode to work this morning and may well get soaked on the ride home. Uh-huh! >:( |
Title: Re: 10% chance of rain my patootie Post by Tocsik on 09/09/20 at 15:09:21 No Bueno, amigo. The Savage throws water all over your legs from the knees down, and fills your boots with water. I miss my scooter for those times I get caught in the rain. Be safe. |
Title: Re: 10% chance of rain my patootie Post by springman on 09/09/20 at 17:09:22 Thanks Tocsik. I was actually on the Honda today, but yeah, I got wet. The real issue though was the wind was blowing pretty hard for a while. Even on the 600 lbs. Honda I got pushed around a good bit. But got home safe and sound and wet but not soaked. :) |

Your "wet" patootie! ::) The Sport Touring bikes I have owned are a lot better at rain protection than a cruiser or my Savage Cafe' is. That time you and I got caught in the hard rain near Waynesville, NC is about the hardest rain I have ever ridden in. Or at least it seems that way when the bike has tiny fenders and throws water all over the place! |
Title: Re: 10% chance of rain my patootie Post by MMRanch on 09/09/20 at 19:40:16 Every body carries rain gear with them don't they ? ::) That's what in them there saddle bags all the bikers haul around ! I knew of some of them who even carry boot cover for the rain !! HA ! :o ...................... Most of the guys I know ride in the rain looking for a good place to stop so they can "Gear-Up" . Then deside "I'm already WET" and never Gear -UP ... ;D ............................ I know how ya feel Springman , I took a shower one time and it wasn't even Saturday ... very disturbing ;) ;) But It happens to all of us sometimes . :) |

Title: Re: 10% chance of rain my patootie Post by MMRanch on 09/10/20 at 10:09:17 Gosh ! I was thinking of leaving the W650 a naked bike ... :-[ no windshield = no protection :-/ no saddle bags = no rain gear -- Could just get a Trunk ...??? :-? Mud Flaps are good ! ;) |
Title: Re: 10% chance of rain my patootie Post by springman on 09/10/20 at 10:09:58 Yeah! It is a 30% chance today so decided not to ride. I actually do have rain gear in one of the saddle bags but it did not rain hard enough, it was still hot and yeah I said the heck with it. The hardest rain I ever rode in was here in Houston. It was hard enough that when I got home and I took off my boots they each had a least a half cup of water in them. Thank goodness it was a really hot day. |

Every BIKER knows , if you want dry weather leave the bike at home , it will be beautiful all day ! ;D |

I was thinking of leaving the W650 a naked bike ... :-[/quote] Some pretty girls look best without makeup or fancy accessories......the W650 is one of those. Having a naked bike as your "Sunny Day Bike" is a good plan. I do that with my Savage Cafe' bike. When the sun is out and I am going for a ride that lasts an hour or two........it is good to feel the wind in your face and on your knees! If you want to keep the value in that bike - it needs to be put back original.....stubborn air box and all! |
