Title: Bunch of parts, Tri cities, TN.
Post by SavageMan99 on 06/07/20 at 17:55:26

I'm actually over the border in VA.
A bunch of random parts.
Forks, seats, sissy bar, tin, a frame (no title), wheels, fenders, bars, other stuff.
No ignition or engine parts.
Looking for enough cash to buy parts for my GL450 wheels... Bearings, shoes, cut the rotor down, and new high friction clutch discs.
The current wire spoke rims, pulleys and belt will be available after the swap is done.
A good donor front tire would be awesome.
Turns out I also have a new rear tire. It's 15", the cast wheel is 16.
It's a wide tire.

You're in VA on the TN border ? By Wise ? My wife went to school there and is planning a reunion visit in September. Is it close to any highway - I made a run there in 09 and wise was many many hours of local roads.

Anyway I'm in SC and if you had a number for $ let me know - I would decide on that.

I want good rust and pit and pretty much blemish free forks. If you would confirm and send me a $, I'll work on getting over and get these parts.

Cool.
Srinath.

The forks won't suit you then. I used the best I had to rebuild mine.
I'm 20 minutes from Rt. 23
In Duffield VA, near the devil's bathtub.

Rt 81 or 11 into Kingsport, then 23 from there.
Wise is a hoot and a holler on up a bit.

I am just off I 26 near Columbia SC.
But yea forks gotta be good - I have 2 sets of rusty ones already.
The GS 450 stuff is also very appealing to me - will drop into a 500 frame and its a cool motor to mod - in fact better than the 500 in some cases. I got maybe 5 partial 500 motors …
You have a GS450 frame ? Titled or otherwise ?

Cool.
Srinath.

You can have it. I may keep the forks, etc if their of any benefit over the savage forks and brakes.

I've got a new 140-90-15 tire.
Denso or some such.
I'll put it on the spoked rim after I do the cast rim conversion.

Are the fork seals leaking?  Mine are starting to just not sure if that's something I wanna tackle or buy forks. I'm down in knoxville.

Forks are pitted. I put seals in a different set.  They have a great write up here.
Just make a drawing of the order the parts go back in.
There's spacers that'll fool you. I believe they go in the bottom side.

So did you say you have a gas tank? If it’s clean I would be interested. I am in Jersey but have an empty box with packing I would send with return label. Let me know if tank and how much You want.

My tank is not perfect. I had to pry the cap off.
Send the box, tank for free. If you come across something cool, send it to me....

SavageMan, Appreciate the offer on tank but I have tanks with various degrees of issues, so I will pass. Was looking for somethng to buy that's clean and ready for strip and paint. My painter is supposed to do my tank and tins next week, if I had an extra tank I would let him go wild let with it and do somethng crazy, but  that matched. Good luck with project.
