Title: Question from the peanut gallery
Post by Bokobob on 04/04/20 at 08:00:19

Bought my very nice 2009 S40 thumper with Salvage/Rebuilt  title...Can't see a single thing that doesn't look original.   Question:  is there any way to tell if the original factory engine has been replaced?

Thank you,   :-/

Bokobob, There is a serial number stamped on the front of engine, it should match the one on title.

Thank you...I saw a number on the side of the engine, but it does not match the one on the title...I'll give another look...

Bokobob, Generally, that is in most states, the serial number on title is the one on the frame. The serial number on the frame is on the headstock of the frame behind the top of the forks. That is turn handlebars to the left and look on frame. I assume you are going through this for your own curiosity, if state issued you a title in your name you are good to go.

Yes, found the number on the front of the engine...(Now to find the title in my "precise" filing system...:-)

Also thanks for the other comment about serial number on frame, etc..Yes, I am doing  this for my curiosity, as my title is good, it is just annotated as Salvage/Rebuilt...trying to narrow it down "just because."  I don't see a thing which would "prove" salvage (aside from the title document itself.)
