Title: Still riding and building
Post by WD on 11/20/19 at 10:09:01

My 98 Savage, Pokey, is slowly becoming a dirt track only machine. 7/8” tracker bar, Amal replica controls, 1960s throttle assembly and grips, stainless rear mud guard, sprung solo and rigid struts, V&H short shot “muffler”... Need to send the rear hub in for an 18” hoop. And a Suzuki Titan 19” front drum wheel is still on it.

My 03 Savage, Sam, needs a repaint. Got damaged by a storm this spring. Tree snapped off and flattened the storage building it was in.

Picked up a 2005 Drifter 800, with 3500 miles. Basically stole it, $2600 out the door.

Daily rider is a 2003 Vulcan 800A with a Mustang solo seat and an 800 Classic rear fender. Prepping it for paint and new 42” fishtail slip on tail pipes. Going full “Cholo/Beach” conversion.

We’re still in SW TN, but getting ready to sell the farm and go somewhere more civilized. I voted for Siberia, Lisa voted for NE TN... [ch128514]

The edge of the Cumberland Plato is nice- lots of curvy roads.

Good to get a word from ya WD !   :)

 Lisa voted for NE TN...

Go with Lisa's idea , you'll get lots of visitors in NE TN.   ;D

I'm glad you got more than one bike .   I've found three to be about right.

You got anything you might want to ride all the way to South Texas in the spring ? (2020 events)   ,   We also got a plan to visit NW Arkansas late summer that would put some of us passing through your neighborhood to get there.
Our TN CMAUSA group is having the TN State Rally in NE TN this year if you get relocated before late summer.  Its fun to meet-up with like minded folks and do some ridding.
I had a good time on that gathering  you put together and would do it again .  ;)

Four Drifters here now, 2 of each displacement. The 99 1500 runs great with just under 138k miles on it.

Plus 2 Savages and a deceased 800 Intruder.

Seems as if ya'll have had Quadruplets  !   ;D

So which size is the best machine ?   You know sometimes more CC's is not necessarily the best thing to happen .

Define “best”...

Reliability? Hands down the 1500. Liquid cooled fuel injected shaft drive with hydraulic valve lash adjusters.

Looks? The 800 Drifters

Fun to ride? The 800A with the rear lowered 2”.

Conversation starter? Sam, the 03 Savage with an flh rear fender and fork boots. The Panhead floorboards and crash bar cause a lot of double takes.

If I had to keep just one of them? The 800a hands down. It will ride circles around the rest of them, with throttle to spare. 8250rpm redline
