Title: One benefit of growing old !
Post by zipidachimp on 11/10/19 at 01:29:47

Cataract Surgery!!!
Holy mackerel, I never knew how intense the color black can be , or how bright the color white can be!!
When my opthalmologist said he'd be sticking a scalpel in my eyeball, I figured general anaesthesia, but no, local freezing only. You can see light while the doctor is working, but nothing specific. 5-7 minutes and out.
My current glasses are obsolete, new vision test in a week or so.
Can't wait to have the second eye done!
Cheers! 8-)

Another nice thing about getting old
Life without parole doesn't feel like a big deal..

That's why punks generally leave geezers alone.

So you Literally watched the surgery..

I certainly wouldn't want that..

Lasik is another great technique. I wore heavy glasses from the age of nine until 49, at 70 I'm still without them.

I had cataract surgery done in both eyes. Wow! What an improvement. The surgery was nothing at all, just in and out. Isn't modern science wonderful.

The doctor gave me the stars back. I had no idea. :)

Lucky you...
I have a disorder where fluid seeps into my retinal wall distorting my vision, and if the fluid doesn't dissipate in ample time for the tissue to heal back together it causes permanent scarring where the fluid was. Have permanent scar in my right eye, which causes a permanent "halo" effect in my visual field as if I just looked at a bright light bulb and looked away. Also makes looking at things in dark areas/places very hard to see since it messes up night vision as well as dept perception. That, coupled with astigmatism (that in itself makes it harder to see at night) and mild red/green color blindness, it's a wonder I can see good enough to brush my teeth.

Take care of those eyeballs...you can't just run out and get new ones.  If you could I am sure Armen and Dave would be trying to drill them out and make them lighter  8-)

Hey Stew, is that pigment dispersion syndrome?  It runs in my family, too.

I had retinal surgery a few years ago for a distorted retina; did not help much at all which was known going into it.  Then both eyes had cataract surgery last year.  Distance vision is better now but issues with the retina remain so ready print on paper is difficult with a distinct shadow/double vision effect, but a computer screen is easier due to the back lighting of it.
But, I am thankful for those and other surgery's that have helped.
Thank you God.
