Title: This is way early......
Post by raydawg on 09/27/19 at 17:57:35

I have the first of the season fire going in the stove, and its still September....YIKES  :o

I was coming in from the wood pile and a bolt of lighting came pretty darn close, made me jump.

They are calling for up to 6 inches of snow, in the mountains this weekend.

My wood pile is way down, waiting on a delivery, they better hurry  :o

We still have at least a couple of weeks of 90 degree weather.

It was 91 today, and that is going to continue into October!

It is unusually hot and unusually dry here in KY.

SHUT UP........ >:(

Make that 12 inches of snow in the mountains, it already started.
Not here on the water, but the temp Sunday morning is forecast to be 30 degrees where I live.

That will shut down all the fall growth, dahlias, tomatoes, etc....
And the grass, I had to mow twice this week, and its the fast wet growth, that turns everything green, its like paint/ink.....and really clumps up, no fun  >:(

You guys enjoy your sweat, I'll snuggle  ;)

Our weather is being weird for October.  It is incredibly dry and it has not rained for several weeks......92 forecast for Monday, 94 for Tuesday, 93 for Wednesday, 87 for Thursday, 68 for Friday.....70's for the weekend.  No rain is forecast until Monday and Tuesday of next week.

I got a cord of firewood done yesterday.....one more to go.
I have upstairs on a propane Lopi stove with thermostat and blower, works great, but we spend most of out time downstairs, just the opposite of summer  ;D

I'm out of wood for the stove in my garage. About 90% of the trees near me are pine. I know it's not the best choice , but if cut and aged, will it provide good heat with few problems ?  I thought winter was a thing of the past.

Pine has a somewhat low heat value per pound.......but in some areas it is the only thing available.  It can cause issues with creosote if burned before it is well seasoned - this can be made worse if you turn the damper down and create a low temperature smolder with the pine.

Last night it was 48 - the coldest night so far here in KY - but Saturday night is supposed to be down at 37!

Yep, we frosted over a couple times this week already....30 this morning, yesterday was 33 and had sleet that stayed on the ground for a few hours in areas that ad the most active showers....

I have 1 1/2 cord stacked, its 90% dry, mostly alder, native maple and fir....
One more cord to go. I have propane upstairs, and baseboard (220v) in the wall in each room as well.....

But I still like to snuggle best  ;D
