Title: Rear Fender Graveyard?
Post by philthymike on 09/21/19 at 06:49:11

Where do they all go?
And why are they sent to their graves in such large quantities?

Speaking of things I wish I could unsee ...see picture!

Enough already

It's across the street from the front fender graveyard...

Did you look at the picture? Did you see what they did to that poor old Kawasaki? Egads! It's hideous! Where does the madness end?
When all nice vintage bikes have been transmogrified into ugly unridable piles of junk nobody wants?
It's such a waste!

Fenders fenders fenders , I don't need no stinkin fenders !!
That thrown together for a photo shoot RYCA tracker is similar to my tracker. But mine is much more refined. Remember a street tracker is a purpose built bike , its sole purpose in life is raising hell on the street !

Maybe the owner thought it was coool.

I'm sorry but there's nothing cool about what was done to that old Kawasaki. For shame...

philhtymike, my point is the owner thought it was. Maybe if we expunged the stupid little cool word from our language people wouldn't do these things.

Maybe better definitions would help. I get your point. I knew dudes in the 80s who thought mullets were cool.  :D

Now your crossing the line ! ;D

As I understand it, a mullet is a fish, or a class of yacht.

See. I was referring to dudes who wore fish on their heads.

Many years ago I saw Monty Pythons Norwegian Fish Slapping Dance, but I can't understand why people would put fish on their heads. I also Know that early christians used a fish as a secret symbol to show they were christians.

Fish throwing has been born of necessity
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/its-surreal-seattles-pike-place-fish-market-sold-to-fish-throwing-employees/

Monty Python is awesome btw. Probably one of the reasons I became a Python programmer 20 years ago too.

At this juncture lets switch from people who thought mullets were cool to people who thought jorts were cool  :D
I bet the guy who built that horrific Kwak wears jorts!
And maybe a fish on his head.

As for early christians maybe they should have used the lion instead of the fish  ;)

I guess mud and dirt up your back is cool?
Stones don't hurt Shines and more?
Heck even my bicycles wear fenders, they seem to handle the shame well...

Ok 5 out of 7 of my bikes have fenders and the tracker has a optional front fender ( fat chance in hell it will ever be mounted ). Absolutely the most fun I have ever had on a motorcycle was a day riding in a nasty rain & hail storm on my fenderless street tracker. I guess I still think I'm 19 cause I sure don't ride like I'm 59 ! That day I ruined a leather jacket , a pair of gloves , and my left boot ( not wearing a hot shoe ) and took me several days to get the bike clean again. Fenders would have done little in that situation.

The people who hack up bikes and then realize they were over their heads and give up are best decribed by the movie, Idiocracy.

Narrator: As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point. Natural selection, the process by which the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, reproduced in greater numbers than the rest, a process which had once favored the noblest traits of man, now began to favor different traits. Most science fiction of the day predicted a future that was more civilized and more intelligent. But as time went on, things seemed to be heading in the opposite direction. A dumbing down. How did this happen? Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species.

The people who hack up bikes and give up and then expect people to give them real money for the resulting pile of scrap metal are just plain delusional.

I am sick too of all the hack saw jobs. I just put in Café  in Craigslist and see the carnage.
Let's see
no rear fender (getting rocks coating your back)
No ft fender (loose the fork bracing, worse handling)
No air cleaners (shortened engine life)
no gauges (not sure how fast going--- ticket, Red line? )
no muffler (loud pipes don't save lives but instead they annoy wives of senators that pass laws against motorcycles)
The rear frame loop gone.
The seat is a covered 2X4 board.
And to top it off, the bad fad of header wrap. (Hey if our exhaust valves are not hot enough already.)
