So today I finally got around to splitting my side cover and installing a Versy cam chain adjuster. As reference I am sending a couple photos so folks know what to expect and what I found. First it was fairly straight forward and not to diffacult with nothing special in the way of tools. I would definately recommend the expense of a new OEM gasket, which comes pre-gooped around the oil passages.

That said my unit was exactly at the .71, the max tolerence, photo attached for reference. The Second note shows install complete. Thanks to Mr. Verslagen for the great part. I am sending you my old unit to help pay it forward, first thing tomorrow.

How many miles on the bike at this measurement? Just curious...I will probably do mine later this fall.

cam chain life varies from rider to rider.
I ride 25 miles to work then 25 back and I get about 23,000 miles before it gets to 20mm

There are lots of people with 8,000 miles before they need to change.
That's to be expected with a beginners bike.

Bike has a little over 19K miles. Not a speed demon, rarely see over 65mph, which is just barely keeping up with traffic here in Jersey. Mostly easy around town and too and from work, which is a nice cruise along the shore.

Versy, are there particular riding habits that would contribute to a shorter adjuster life? Ie heavy engine braking or hard acceleraction?

I've heard people mention that but I haven't seen any conclusive proof to that claim.
Most that have short chain life are newbs that ride short distances.
I believe it's caused by the thermal cycle, the ratchet getting tight and there's no way to release it, putting a lot of force on the chain.

Ours is at 36K kms and has been at 15mm out for the past 12K kms.

I use quality oil and she only uses up about 400ml of oil between changes, so I'm guessing that seeing as chain stretch is actually the wear on the bushings that poor lubrication could also contribute to excessive cam chain wear.

I should take this opportunity to mention about the difficult of getting the cables attached to the foot peg on and off. Various things have been mentioned except the obvious.

I finally worked out that you need to undo the two 10mm bolts (reminds me I need to replace one) that clip the cables to the frame, then it's all easy peasy.
