Title: Replacing brake fluid Post by Theblackestofmattes on 09/12/19 at 04:06:15 Hi guys, I am going to replace my front brake fluid and I was wondering if there is a specific type. I don't even know if there are different types of brake fluid similar to oil. It makes sense to me with larger heavy dutty machines though. Anyway, is there a recommended type, not brand, of front brake fluid? |

If you don't have a cheap HF vacuum bleeder tool, just get a piece of clear hose and hook one end to the bleeder, open it, and suck on it while you pump the lever and watch to keep the reservoir filled. Only use a clear hose so you don't get a mouth full when it starts filling up the hose 8-) |

I had to rebuild my master cylinder and wasn't getting any pressure while bleeding. I couldn't get the air out of the lines. What I did was take a syringe and fill it with fluid. Insert it into the bleed nipple at the caliper and fill it there first. Bubbles will start coming out of the master cylinder. Do a couple syringe fills this way then you can bleed the normal way. |

Title: Re: Replacing brake fluid Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/14/19 at 16:22:15 It straight up eats paint... I don't care if it's perfectly safe, you can have my glass full. |

Precisely why you only use clear hose. Learned my lesson with gasoline >:( |
Title: Re: Replacing brake fluid Post by WolverineWinMX on 09/19/19 at 14:33:02 I need to add more brake fluid since I don't see it in my window level at all. So I'll buy some DOT4 fluid and do that, but can someone give me instructions on how to bleed the brakes? Thanks! |
