But then...

Sources from both the campaign and the union confirmed that the collective bargaining agreement, ratified in May, set a base pay rate for field staff at $36,000 a year. That salary works out to under $15 and hour based on the 60-hour work week. But in addition to the pay scale, the CBA also provides full health insurance without a premium, mental health benefits, parental leave options, a gas card for use while on the job and other options not traditionally available to low-level campaign staff.

Gee, funny they don't mention all the benefits offered in all the hit pieces.... hmm, how about that?

Under fifteen bucks over a SIXTY HOUR work week.
Ohhh, how generous , a gas card
For Work Miles..
Insurance, that matters, but it's still way crappy pay.
Without knowing the actual value of the insurance, it's not possible to get a clear picture of the pay.
Forty hours at fifteen is six hundred.
That's $31,200/year.
Expecting a sixty hour work week out of them for that, even with the insurance, it's not a very attractive thing imo..

I'm just wondering why anyone Needed to unionize or bargain for pay. Everybody KNOWS paychecks can be as big as the employer wants them to be. The only reason employers want to pay people a pittance is greed. Everyone should be paid at least fifteen. It's been done and it WORKED!
Just like smart people said it would.
Employees got fewer hours.
Employers went broke.
But you lefties keep pretending you have a clue.

Yeah, I don't know of many companies that do that anymore, do you?

Insurance, that matters, but it's still way crappy pay.

Seriously?  Do you know that insurance averages out to be about $6K year?  When's the last time you had to shop for insurance, jog?  It's a huge deal in this day in age.

Without knowing the actual value of the insurance, it's not possible to get a clear picture of the pay.

See above.

Good think you don't work anymore, huh?

They shouldn't need to organize and bargain for a decent wage.  Also, if he can't pay his staff a living wage with insurance; how is he going to offer that to the country?

Best regards,

Why doesn't Bernie give him a real living wage let's say $20/hour.  Let's see what happens then.....

And you want that imbecile in charge of the country....

Because, unlike trump, Bernie isn't a stupid businessman.  His wage for 40 hrs is $15/hour with benefits - exactly in line with his campaign.  Those benefits work out to an average of $6000/year.

I wouldn't expect you to know what the value of those benefits are - you just want to hate on Bernie.

It's funny, the more the right tries to smear him, the better Bernie looks.
Keep up the great work!  LOL

It didn't take "effort", jog.  You need to maybe read something other than the republican rags.

He welcomed organization.  He always offered fully paid insurance.  But unlike trump, he's a smart businessman.  He's being fiscally responsible to his campaign.  Hell, his campaign is being run better than any of trump's businesses!

Further, do you realize that he pays his interns $15 to $20 an hour?  (that's rhetorical)

The wages in question were based on some salaried employees (that means the same pay for no matter how many hours worked) that, after working sometimes 60+ hours a week, were not making the $15 an hour wage.

If you knew anything about salaried employees, you'd know that this is not uncommon.  I know plenty of salaried employees that wind up making less per hour than freelancers because of the hours they put in per week.  But, unlike those freelancers, they get insurance benefits and paid vacations.

The repub rags just want to try and smear Bernie.  The problem is, they're actually making him look better.

Keep letting them lead you by the nose.  LOL

$6,000 a year? looks like poverty pay to me.

Why do you think I wouldn't know?

Because you didn't know, obviously.  Fewer and fewer companies are offering full benefits anymore.  When they do, it's a bargaining chip.  The average is about $6K/year - and that's only an average.  For families it can easily climb to nearly $10K/year.

Pay attention vers.

That's the value of the health insurance that Bernie's campaign offers.  That's on top of the pay.

I know from your comments that you didn't consider the value of the benefits.

So you're either being obtuse, or you don't know,

Pick one and move on.

Bernie doesn't understand the value of living wage or is obtuse.

He doesn't?  Seems he's paying it and valuing the union.

Seems you may be mistaken. (along with your conservative friends).
