That part ain't funny.

I bought a book on knots once,.. still got it.
Still can't tie anything but a granny knot...
The book looks nice on my coffee table though.

That's true enough.
But we also unfortunately live in an age where perfectly innocent objects, images and even words are perceived as racially intimidating, and the perception, never mind how looney the person doing the perceiving happens to be, becomes reality and is treated as such. That aint funny either, and is a symptom of an underlying pathology that a surprising number of otherwise seemingly intelligent people are afflicted with IMO.

Since some people have used ropes and knots to make politically charged statements and to intimidate, all knots that even resemble a noose are suspect and the innocent people who are subjected to them are traumatised because they are too stupid to know what they are looking at and they are LOOKING for anything that they can point to and be butthurt over and offended by.

Yeah, a uni knot is definitely not a noose. But someone at the University of Michigan Medical Center thought it was and started quite a ruckus.

You seem to know quite a lot about nooses. I wouldn't let that get around if I were you. Might get you labeled a racist. ;)

People have been hanging each other for hundreds of years for all sorts of reasons, but it is the racial symbolism and the immediate screeching about "it's a HATE CRIME , when certain folks see a piece of rope that resembles a noose, that this discussion is about.
