Nobody has ever been forced to rebuild the transmission since I have been here, fifteen years..
If you are seeing anything like that it's probably the front sprocket on its shaft.
That's not a good place to see excess travel.. it's a solvable problem if it hasn't gone too far. Check out the nut holding the front sprocket on. Tell us what you find.

Well I changed front pulley to sprocket myself and the lash on the axle has been there since I bought it so...
Nothing wrong with the sprocket.
Wan't numbers not questions
My number is about 1/8 turn

Eyeball estimates of how much it's turning aren't useful.
You want numbers, provide the measurement. How many degrees is it actually turning?
Spend the time to explain what happened. Belt broke?
How tight was it?
Stock shocks?

If you have that much lash....stop riding the bike and take the pulley hub apart - and look inside.  It sounds like the rubber bumpers have disintegrated....or your pulley hub bearing is worn out - or both.

Belt broke 2 years ago and I converted to chain instead.
The lash is at the front sprocket in the engine axle.
Found the lash before the conversion. About 45 degrees.
The belt showed some dry cracks but was tightened after regulation.
I can change the bumpers for the rear sprocket but the lash in the front remains.
The front sprocket is new and installed correctly.
Gearbox axle issue, not sprocket.

Well the excessive lash in the counter shaft could come from bad clutch plates so I'm gonna swap those first and estimate further.
+/- 1 cog counter shaft lash at the front sprocket is OK (14 teeth front sprocket if you done chain conversion). More than that is excessive lash.
Brands have different lash also. Suzuki tends to have more.
