Thank You, thank you, thank you...
All I want is to change the seals, flush out any crap, not looking to modify anything. I'm looking for the most straightforward approach. I'm sure I got dirt jammed in it. Long stupid story..
Fwiw, checking the dive by running a tie wrap around the tube is not a great idea. Well, if you do it, do it, take it off.

Try this cleaning trick,... works most of the time.

Did that a few months ago. Got a chunk of dirt.seemed like I had won, but then I hit a hard edge at a railroad crossing and it started weeping and then it started with the arterial spray.
I'm planning on a long trip this summer, so I think I should actually just do it now.

I only got the seals and dust wipers.
Should I have gotten anything else?

I can see how that would make it all better.

Where in the assembly is this keeper kept?

under the duster, over the seal.

Sounds like if I wanna get the seal out, I'm gonna Hafta get the keeper outta there.
Hopefully it will be okay. Thanks

Not specifically for Savage forks, but close enough. The procedure for disassembling, replacing seals and reassembling is basically the same for all of them.

Easiest way to get the allen bolt out of the bottom  is to leave the fork leg assembled and break it loose with a long allen socket on an air impact wrench if you've got one available

I'm not sure I understand why the top has to come out of the top clamps.

Are you contemplating leaving the fork tubes in the clamps and sliding the sliders off the bottom of the tubes. That wont't work. The bottom bushing on the fork tubes won' fit through the seals and the top bushing when you try to put it back together. That bushing and the tube has to be inside the slider before the other stuff goes in.

In that link there is an exploded diagram and there is a parts list. If you open the link in two tabs you can toggle between them and I think it's gonna be very helpful. Dude at the parts counter put me on it.
