Go up to the Bike Builds at the top of this page.....there are lots of ideas up there.

If you are going to ride like a Hooligan.....a big brake is nice.

Got my biltwell moto (motocross style) bars in yesterday, and 18" aluminum rear rim and custom spokes ordered,I'll be lacing them up to the stock hub. Ordering tires as soon as I get it put together.  The seat....well I'm so torn on what style to go with, either flat like a flat tracker kind of style or flat with the hump on the rear kinda cafe racerish. And the exhaust I'm leaning towards doing a high pipe in the same style as the scrambler kit from ryca but with a moto gp muffler or mx muffler. DEFINITELY need a fork brace before I hit the trails. Still have to get the seat right and bars on it so I can see if I need to adjust the bar height with risers or if the stock ones will work. Chain conversion has me confused on what sprocket size to go with so my chain doesn't rub the swing arm with 12.5" shocks

A proper scrambler needs a proper set of mid-controls: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1487785879/0

My bike was originally going to go more towards a scrambler, but it sort of took a UJM turn at some point.  But would be an easy transition to full scrambler, so worth looking at for build ideas: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1472222031

YES PLEASE!    :D :D

Only because they get lost on here otherwise.  There are so many good builds one here that get buried.  Like that dude from Italy was it?  I'm going to have to find that one too.  LOL

Any one ever use 12.5" shocks and a chain conversion? I am wanting to make sure the chain clears before I buy the shocks because SHOCKS AINT CHEAP! lol

Chain conversations are common. RYCA sells a nice complete kit. You can go as long as 13.25" with out the chain rubbing on the forward portion of the swingarm. At 13.375 it will rub.

Thanks gary,i have chain conversion in my cart ready to order and I may go with 13" shocks then

If you are going to go with a 13 inch shock, don't waste your money on a twin-tube design. Contact CL MotoTech for a pair of decent shocks:

That's the exact shocks I'm about to order

13" is good depending on your gearing. I fabbed a chain tensioner to take up any slack , I hate sloppy chain adjustment.

I'll be running 17front and 49 rear

Let Chris know that you are putting them on a Savage so he can get you the 14mm bushings.

17/49 will be close when suspension is unloaded. But should be ok !

Should be ok? Should? Lol I barely have enough money to buy the parts once so I definitely dont want to buy them twice   :D

When you start modifying and taking the bike away from stock......there is always some risk involved.

Bigger sprockets will help to provide clearance - and you can keep the ratio the same by getting a rear sprocket that is numerically a match for the front sprocket you choose.  The only downside is a longer chain and a bit more weight.

And your choice of how to do your footpegs will also be an issue - RYCA has to clearance their mount if you go with a chain.

Thanks,I'll see what I can figure out and I'll report back with pictures

I was running a 17/54 and had no issues but I have the tensioner. But was not geared to my liking. Originally had 18/52 but was having issues so I made the tensioner and changed it to 18/54 and then to 17/54. Next will be 18/51 should do it , still accelerate pretty good and still be able to beat Daves GPS top speed and then slide it into the next turn ( Grinning )
I totally understand the money thing , I don't even talk/think about how much I've spent on R & D on this bike. I just keep on going till every little thing is done. Bikes like this you may never be able to call it DONE !
