Title: You think so......???? Post by raydawg on 09/19/18 at 15:11:53 I keep hearing about how folks just loath Trump and the conservative agenda. How the country can't stand the man, its on the wrong course, etc. That because of the republicans wrong view for america, a blue wave is cresting..... I go back to all the stories written about the republicans/conservatism, as dead, moot, gone for good, with Obama's first term election. The republican party was whipped, disheartened, finished. Yet. Obama's first midterm, the PERFECT opportunity to expand on their power that was EMBRACED by the country.... More liberalism and progressive power to propel the country to this new defined agenda mandate..... But..... Seats in Congress Gained/Lost by the President's Party in Mid-Term Elections F. Why did he not expand instead of historical losses, if what we were told was true? Was the deplorables already a factor, or was his election a anti hillary choice, and folks saw they bought a clunker? But again, if it was the liberal mandate that won, folks really wanted that, Obama would not have factored in, either way. I see it as a repudiation of the lies told by liberals to get elected, then to quickly abandon once elected, and folks spanked them down REAL HARD once given the very first opportunity. |

Wow, nice use of that $7 word.... but that don't hold water. It's not a 'repudiation' for lies (if that were the case, the House, Senate and every single incumbent out there at the state level would be gone.) It's not as simple as black and white. For one thing, follow the money. Another, look at the incumbents. Then look at the redistricting. Nah, you probably wouldn't wanna do that. |
Title: Re: You think so......???? Post by raydawg on 09/19/18 at 19:47:43 Jog, Web, your thoughts? It was reported it was OVER for conservatives after Obama won and took many along for the ride.... It didn't even last 2 years. Why? |
Title: Re: You think so......???? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/19/18 at 20:26:41 Historically the party in power loses seats in mid terms. We will have to wait and see. |

Jog, I think you miss my question. I only use the fact of midterm losses as example. We were TOLD the country had moved on, past, the "white man" with the election of Obama. That Michele was finally proud of our country for the FIRST TIME EVER. His day of rule was over. But the FACTS are, none of this narrative has held, with Trump being the pinnacle of fact that shows otherwise..... Which I believe is driving liberals crazy, because they believed all the HYPE. We are being told presently again that this election is about kicking out the white man again, yes? |

Title: Re: You think so......???? Post by WebsterMark on 09/20/18 at 07:50:19 Thanks Vers cause when I saw that, I skipped right over it.... Dems own the media and entertainment culture so their popularity is always over stated. I don't know how this mid-term will go. I'm fairly certain they'll be no blue wave. Maybe at best, a blue high tide. But it wouldn't surprise me to see no change in who controls Congress. In my state of Missouri, I'm just not sure about our Senate race. All the polls have it a dead heat. The Republican candidate doesn't inspire anything other than a mild yawn but he's tied which tells me he could win. The Democrat's popularity in Missouri with voters who don't answer polls is still in the $hitter where it was 2 years ago when Trump won so if I had to place a small bet, I'd say Republicans will take that Senate seat, but I don't have the confidence in that to bet much. The interesting thing to see is what happens if the Democrats do awful this mid-term? Will they get the message that leftist like Booker, Warren and Harris have zero national appeal? What would they do then? Turn to Eric Holder maybe for President and try to dial back their looney fringe for Congress? If Republicans get creamed, will they abandon Trump? If they do, they'll never win the White House in 2020, he's their only hope of that. The Dems, thinking the country has moved strongly left, will put up a loon like Booker or Harris and we'll have quite a fight. |
Title: Re: You think so......???? Post by raydawg on 09/20/18 at 08:03:13 Thanks Web, seems everybody is acting with cautiousness, which to me translate to the fallacy of a blue wave, but like you reference, is being driven my the liberal media narrative. I will once again fall back to my argument that we were told this EXACT same thing with Obama's win. We do have the luxury of looking back now and seeing their prophecies as false. Seems we've been here before, and those promoting and predicting this "wave" have not changed the basic premise of party platform, no, only that Trump is a idiot. I also wonder about how many decline to answer truthfully about supporting the republicans, in polls, because they don't want to be kicked out of restaurants? ;D |

First off, I'm not sure where the he!! you get your info. Second, this election will be about the establishment and whether or not it will continue. I'd say it won't. Those that refuse PAC money are gaining ground quickly. Medicare for all is hugely popular. Pay attention ray. Your democratic party is changing. |

It's not about supporting republicans - it's about supporting trump. The man is an idiot, and the republicans are idiots for keeping him around. If there is indeed a "blue wave", there will be impeachment talk and trump may be forced to resign - à la nixon. |
Title: Re: You think so......???? Post by WebsterMark on 09/20/18 at 09:31:14 The country has always been more to the left than right. It's why we have Medicare, medicaid, unemployment benefits, social security and all the other "welfare" programs. There's left and looney left. Conservatives support safety net programs, not cradle to grave coddling however. Big difference. As to who they put up against (pence?) in 2020? Ha ha! Keep dreaming! But you can bet, that candidate will be help to a higher, progressive agenda than ever before. I hope so! That will get rejected. |

Web...... that is a great example of blinded by ideology rage/indoctrination ala ISIS. Is a friggin IDIOT! A vast rightwing conspiracy ;D |
Title: Re: You think so......???? Post by verslagen1 on 09/20/18 at 10:53:06 Just glance over the data, I would hate to commit to any analysis. But it is rare that an pres gains house or senate members. A study based upon the laws passed would probably have more insight. Obamacare probably influenced more voters at a time when the economy was in turmoil then anything else. |
Title: Re: You think so......???? Post by raydawg on 09/20/18 at 11:10:20 Look here, Obama's first remarks after winning against McCain: President Barack Obama challenged the GOP to end political brinkmanship and said Republicans should "win an election" if they so badly wish to change his policies. In his first extended remarks since the government reopened, Obama said that the public has grown "fed up" with its government and urged lawmakers to move past the conflict of the past few weeks. "To all my friends in Congress, understand that how business is done in this town has to change," he said. "You don't like a particular policy or a particular president? Then argue for your position. Go out there and win an election," The president said. "But don't break it.” https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/obama-gop-win-election-change-policies-flna8C11411623 Did he even adhere to his own advice.....???? NO They didn't even allow arguments, but rammed their OWN ideas upon us. Look here, the NYT says the republicans, especially the "conservative" are done..... https://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/05/us/politics/05campaign.html You guys getting it yet? The polls had Hillary by a easy win. So, what happened? Folks just played their cards close to their chest.....why? Or, was the media pushing a agenda and narrative? Same crap now. |
