It is especially useful for drilling accurate pilot holes in wood like when you are mounting a hinge and you need to center the countersunk screws properly so they fit flush. Best part, no cord, no batteries, it is always ready. |

If you have 2 batteries one can be charging while you are using the other one - you will never run out of power. |

If there is a battery powered unit with a blasted keyless chuck that a non-power lifter can get to stay clamped while spinning a shaft with a tool that bounces around, I'm okay with that.. I have yet to find a keyless chuck that didn't loosen up.. |

Those 12 and 18 Volt B&D's are kinda sorry . I've got a Bosch Corded 3/8 reversing that has lasted 20 years --- if ya can stand to drag the cord out ;D |

Then I'm going to a few stores and look at stuff. I'm still thinking about Cord, no cord, the battery powered stuff has gotten really good. Maybe the better drills have keyless chuck that don't require being able to squeeze blood out of a turnip. I have a really old 1/2" Sears, but it weighs a lot and is slow. But modern ones look a lot smaller. I don't want to get in a hurry, again, and wish I hadn't. Thanks for all the input. |

Post by Dave on 09/13/18 at 02:59:24 I don't think any battery powered drill is going to enjoy polishing.....continuous use for long periods may not be ideal for a battery drill. I believe battery drills are better at something less than a 100% duty cycle.....installing screws or drilling holes provides some down time. I used one of those small battery powered impact driver drills last weekend helping a friend build a deck railing. They are surprisingly powerful at driving large lag screws - but I could not tell when the screw was sufficiently tight and it was really easy to strip them out.....or not be tight....there was no sensation of torque when the screw got tight (I much prefer the feeling the battery drill/driver provides when the screw tightens up). |

When polishing ya kind of need two hands on a machine with two handles , and brushless operation . More of a tool dedicated for polishing or a Router with a polishing pad. JOG , give us a list of chores and it will be easy to fit the tool ! example: drill running a paint mixing tool to stir quickcrete cement. ;D really I've done that with the big DeWalt 20V. In low gear ofCourse ! |

Dude sells to contractors, says it doesn't get returned because the chuck stinks.. I'm not finding a three eighths , with a keyed chuck. I don't want a slow, heavy 1/2".. I have an air drill, and a 1/2" , rotate the planet, break your arm, heavy drill. I think the Milwaukee will do it. |

Then, Eegore graciously ordered a drill, to be delivered in a week or so. My plan is to check out the keyless chuck and see if it's something I can use. I did finally get the craptastic chuck off the DeWalt. I'm planning on getting a Jacobs 1/2" chuck, with key, and put it on whichever drill has the most guts, But, Considering that you guys got together and donated with the understanding that it was going to a drill, and then Eegore popped for the whole thing, I need to know what you guys want me to do. |

The only real difference between it and the DeFault chuck is, this one is all metal. The DeWalt chuck has a plastic nose, and the Milwaukee also spins a few hundred RPM faster. And it's got a 5year warranty. They must believe in it. |
