Hey all!

I’m Miles, 29, from Newcastle Australia.

I’ve been riding for about 7 years now. I’ve had a 64 Honda Cb72, 06 250 virago that I chopped and have recently bought a brand new s40
.
Much bigger engine to what I’m used to, and overall a great cruiser. Does vibrate a lot more than the twin cylinder virago of course. My mods to the virago were a bit too dodgy so I decided to buy something brand new and mod a little bit more by the books (read: do less dodgy work myself and use parts designed for the bike).

So far my plans are:
Lower risers and buckhorn bars (my preference)
Either standard Suzuki passenger backrest or have a higher sissybar made up.
Change the exhaust out. The stock exhaust is way too quiet to feel like people are aware of me.

So along those lines I have a few questions if anyone could help.
What length/diameter bolt should I be looking for to replace the stock risers? Cheap risers are all over eBay and I’ve used them before.

I’m hearing a lot about Harley mufflers. What will be the best option if I want to be louder but not obnoxious. And is there a standard for exhaust/jetting matches?

Welcome to the forum. I have an S40 like yours 2014 model.

The CB77 is one of my all time favourite bikes, I restored one many years ago. It was way ahead of its time when introduced and gave the British motorcycle industry fits. :)

The sissy bar was on the bike when i bought it 2 years ago. Its not a stock one. It is wider, and my bike has different fender struts as well.
I do have a stock sissy bar i would consider selling PM me

Welcome aboard Miles.

I love that old Honda (I hope you didn't sell it.), and the Virago with the clear coat on the brushed steel tank is a nice touch. After owning several bikes with chains, I think you are going to fall in love with that belt drive.

The color scheme on your new LS is really sweet. I don't think I have seen that scheme before. You've got a nice looking ride there. The additional displacement must be a pleasant change.

I believe you will find this forum most helpful. I just joined a few weeks ago and the experience has been superb. All the members are super friendly and helpful, and the folks that run the forum do a great job. After spending a little time at suzukisavage.com, you will be digging into that scooter and making it fly like the wind.

Unfortunately I did sell the CB. I couldn’t keep it in good enough co edition. I didn’t have the funds.
That bike was a perfect introduction to motorbikes though. Kick start, beautiful exhaust note. Just romanticised everything.

Having the extra cc’s is great! Just feels safer in traffic too.

I’ve been on many forums over the years for cars and bike and this one seems to be very well run and maintained!

I didn't like the look blacked out orange S40 when I saw photos of it, but seeing it in person last week it looks quite fine.

You will be able to buy a pair of Dyna mufflers in Australia that have a built in heat shield and a rail mount for $100. So many Harley owners here remove them instantly so you just need to find your local Harley guy, shops charge more. Then you can prolly sell one here for $50

Get an adapter made with a 6 degree bend or use the Ryca adapter, rather than trying to force it on. And pick up a couple of Harley ring clamps too.
