Government subsidies,  for ethanol fuel,
                  JUST  LIKE,
the government subsidies for  ‘Solar or Wind Farms’.
(Which were a  Wanna Be King’s doing)
              Are a total JOKE

If I went downtown Mpls,
Next to a Stop Sign, on a freezing cold day.
And had a pail of water,
and Every car that, ’stopped’, at that stop sign,
I would throw on the road, a couple of tablespoons of water.

I would be arrested faster than you could say, ‘Chicago’ !

YET, EVERY  TIME, at  EVERY  Stop light/sign.
That is  EXACTLY  what is happening with EACH  Car !!!!!!
Which, (unless it is Collector over 20 years old and Licensed as such)
Is what  EVERY  Car is,
   FORCED TO DO,
       by burning ethanol fuel.

Which amounts in MORE  Salt,
Which is MORE, Pollution.
Which adding to the total inefficacy of ethanol fuel.
Costs ALL,  Taxpayers, MORE  Money.

Oh Yea, ethanol fuel,
Just, WONDERFUL, if you click your heals together 3 times,
and Sprinkle some, Fairy Dust.

Now before the  'Panty in a Bunch' crowd,
Gets their, 'Panties in a Bunch'.
All for,
KNOWLEDGEABLE,  alternatives.
Not,  'Use Fossil Fuels to make alternative fuels'.
      (That is  SO,  DFI  Snowflake)

Quote:
Adding up the energy costs of corn production and its conversion to ethanol, 131,000 Btu are needed to make 1 gallon of ethanol. One gallon of ethanol has an energy value of only 77,000 Btu. "Put another way," Pimentel said, "about 70 percent more energy is required to produce ethanol than the energy that actually is in ethanol. Every time you make 1 gallon of ethanol, there is a net energy loss of 54,000 Btu."

More energy in than is gotten out.  what a waste.

Its the idea we are saving mother earth........

Which, BTW, is coming out with a interview on CNN, where she claims Tweeter screwed her too  ;D

A lot of recycling is like this too.  The cost of transporting the recyclable material in trucks exceeds the return product.

Big difference there.

If that is true, we should dump it.
...but, according to Energy.gov...

Quote:
Ethanol Energy Balance

In the United States, ethanol is primarily produced from the starch in corn grain. Ethanol produced from corn demonstrates a positive energy balance, meaning that the feedstock and fuel production does not require more energy than the amount of energy contained in the fuel.

Cellulosic ethanol improves the energy balance of ethanol, because cellulosic feedstocks require less fossil fuel energy to produce ethanol. Biomass used to power the process of converting non-food-based feedstocks into cellulosic ethanol also reduces the amount of fossil fuel energy used in production. Another benefit of cellulosic ethanol is that it results in lower levels of life cycle greenhouse gas emissions.

So who should we believe?...

Yeah, recycling has been good for us, overall.
It just makes good sense to practice such behavior.

The ethanol has had bad effects on many fronts, however, it’s mostly a design problem.
Manufacturer a engine that can use it correctly and I believe a lot of the bad publicity will cease to exsist.
My truck can use flex fuel, and I know GE and RR are developing engines that use bio fuels to power aircraft.

It’s a good idea, however, just needs to be further developed.
Remember when they started going after MPG restrictions, it was thought as first to be wrong for all sorts of reasons, now, we have some amazing results....
Too good in fact, as highway taxes collected on fuel at the pump is way down, haha!

Raising a crop in Order to get ethanol is like building something so you can recycle it.
Crop waste can be made into alcohol.
Maybe economically.
What is being done is ridiculous.
Growers are the winners.

So start with a Black field.
Once over with chisel plow/disk/harrow/roto-how/etc.
(What ever the soil/practice requires)
Add up the Fuel
Now over again to plant, add the fuel and the seeds.
Now over again to spray, add the fuel and chemicals.
Now over again to harvest, add the fuel, of all the things needed.
Now over again to make it ready for next spring,
And add the fuel to do that.
Now add the fuel to haul it to the Plant that then make the ethanol at.

That’s  BEFORE, the Plant gets it.
That is  BEFORE, the Plant turns
2 dollar bills into, 6 quarters.

Then their always is CNN,
as to the question of  "who should we believe?'

46 years ago,  drove a beat up Chev Impala.
4 door, 350 V8, 3 speed auto,
It got  20 MPG, (when I drove it nice)
 at  about  .30 Per gallon

Today a Chev Impala
V4, 6 speed transmission.
Half the weight, and 3/8’s less room
gets 30 MPG
 at about 2.75 per gallon.

So then, cost 1.50 to go 100  miles
today same 100 miles, cost 9.00

Adjust for inflation, (YMMV)
It cost,  1.50 to 1.75, MORE.
To drive the SAME  Miles !!!!!

WOW, one  Helll of a  Improvement.
