Title: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by Eegore on 03/16/18 at 20:01:44 https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4909 It would be nice to have the Dickey Amendment revised as well so more in depth and accurate information could be funded also. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by Eegore on 03/19/18 at 07:42:44 Man all this talk about what to do with schools and nobody has an opinion on the actual things being done? |

Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/19/18 at 10:26:01 Training to prevent student violence against others and self, including training for local law enforcement officers, school personnel, and students. The record speaks for itself. Plenty of opportunity for stopping him, nothing Done. Through the promise program, he was protected. A girl told a school official that he was dangerous and possibly a shooter in the making. There were several who recommended he be forcibly committed. We don't have to spend millions and create a prison atmosphere for the kids. All that needs done is Allow, not force, ALLOW staff to be trained and carry. Get those idiotic signs that effectively say Come here and kill as many as you can, because Nobody can defend themselves Hear Gone. Rather than more government spending, Let's LOOK at the places where teachers are armed. How many times do they get shot up? So far ZERO. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by Eegore on 03/19/18 at 15:42:53 Is there anything in the bill that staff are forced to be armed, or that signs must be posted? If there is I missed it. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/19/18 at 15:51:55 I didn't say that. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by Eegore on 03/19/18 at 16:19:23 Ahh yeah I misread your response. Unfortunately this bill states funding can not go to purchasing or training to use firearms. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/19/18 at 19:29:59 As usual, they propose a spending spree instead of just NOT stripping the teachers of their rights. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by Eegore on 03/20/18 at 05:22:33 We don't have a right to carry in schools. Teachers can carry, but not at work depending on what the school they work in decides. the bill doesn't allow funding for that training, it dies not stop teachers from funding it themselves. Stripping their rights would mean they are not allowed to carry, or receive training at all. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/20/18 at 09:18:28 They give up their rights where the signs are. That's what I'm talking about and you know that. I never said or implied that teachers cant own guns. Really, no kidding. I didn't say that. As for the cost of training And the willingness of teachers to carry We've already seen that Unlike the Ohhh My GAWD, I'm not Ever gonna carry a gun Attitude that some people seemed would be the attitude of the teachers They OVERWHELMED the offers for FREE TRAINING. Why do the left believe that the cops don't want society's pillars to be armed? The cops are gonna support good people being armed In Defense of The Children Of ALL of the misguided, moronic If it Saaaves Ooone Chiiild Ideas I've seen, here's a Real ANSWER to a very real problem. Can we stop pretending it's not, please? |

I didn't know that. My understanding of it was that the teachers were having their rights "stripped" from them but not specifically isolated to their place of employment. |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/20/18 at 15:42:32 I've never seen anything that indicated that by choosing to be a teacher you automatically lost your right to own a gun. Teachers are able to have a CC permit. They just can't take it to school, where we have seen several times how that works... The Union Grove schools just fifteen minutes away have signs stating Our Staff are armed in order to protect our children. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/15/guns-in-schools-firearms-_n_2482168.html |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by Trippah on 03/25/18 at 14:45:00 Well, the well trained police in this country have no problem shooting unarmed people; maybe the teachers can now start shooting unarmed students? "I thought it was a hand gun, not an eraser." |
Title: Re: Amended/new bill for school safety Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/25/18 at 16:24:47 The geniuses who set policy have triggers adjusted to Twelve POUNDS in some places. You can't stay on target pulling that hard. And, naturally, everyone wants to pretend that Guns in the schools won't be a DETERRENT. Choices change when the We are completely vulnerable Signs come down. |
