Title: Indian Scout Street Tracker
Post by ohiomoto on 11/09/17 at 11:13:26

Indian has a competition only FTR750 which is really cool but not street legal (or street friendly for that matter.)
http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/flat-track-race/ftr750

But this one would be street legal:  http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/ftr1200

I really don't need a 1200 and I'm sure it won't be cheap, but it is cool.  I signed up for the updates just to show that people are interested in cool bikes.  :)

The front brake reservoir can double as a "shot glass"!

The Scout 60 is a little tamer with only 983cc. ::) :-/

I just hope the price is right. How am I going to splain it to the wife. I have to start thinking this one out now ! I'll just build a nice shed in the backyard where me and the dog and my new bike can live. And then hide the guns , knives , axes, pitchforks , hammer & nails , and anything sharp longer than 1/4" and I might just live. I might have to deal with black eyes,swollen/broken nose, fat mangled lips and missing teeth and possible broken rib or two. Still gotta have it , if I stop posting you'll know what happened !!! Wonder where she is gonna hide my body ?
Still worth it ! ;D ;D ;D

Loneliness, been together for 27 years. One would be lost without the other.

Where's the 'add to cart" button.

As a scout owner, I can tell you, that engine is awesome. To think of it in a lightweight frame with big hoops and all the proper hooligan trimmings...yesss please.

Certainly the hottest naked bike in a long time!
I was at the bike show last year and looked at the Indians. Sales guy asked me what I thought. Told him the bikes needed to lose a lot of weight before I'd buy one. Also pointed out that since my mom hadn't taken a lot of Thalidimide during pregnancy, and that I had stuff like arms and legs, I didn't need the 12" seat height and the pull back bars. In short, make a nice, light standard and I'll buy one. He didn't like that answer.
Maybe someone else did?

I have looked at the Scout at bike shows.......looking at it to see what/how it could be transformed into a Cafe' or Standard shaped bike.  The stock "cruiser" frame layout would make it nearly impossible......it would be easier to just move the engine into another frame - and it is not something I feel like taking on these days.

Still.......this photo makes me think a V-Twin Cafe' bike could be really nice if done correctly.  This one is done very well...shouldered rims, great tank and seat - really nicely done.

I ike it! Do it Dave!  Get'er done! :)

I think you could do pretty with a Scout with some rear subframe and suspension work to get the stance needed.  It has some decent lines to work with, but you wouldn't be able to pull it off like the Indian did.

EDIT:  It's been done already!  Searched "Indian Scout Tracker" and this is the first image I got:

http://https://www.rolandsands.com/assets/images/pages/3283/rsd-indian-hooligan-flat-trackers_14.jpg

And they look pretty badass actually!

https://www.rolandsands.com/blog/624/rsd-indian-hooligan-flat-trackers

They actually sell mid controls. Nab those, longer shocks.  Fab a rear subframe, and belt tensioner belt tensioner, bigger wheels, pipes, etc....

Dear Santa , I been real real good this year. Could you please please please put a Indian Street Tracker by my tree. I'll cut you a fat check for it all you gotta do is sneak it out of their factory and if it won't fit in your sleigh I could even spring for the shipping. Milk & cookies are waiting for you and maybe some special brownies , you know the kind !

      Patiently waiting, Ruttly

T'was the night before Christmas when all through the house ............................dreams of sugar plum colored Indian street trackers danced through Ruttly's head.............He'd been into Santa's special brownies! ::)

Strictly medicinal purposes ::)

Hey Santa, If you lose your focus after the medicinal brownies and forget the Indian.  This here Royal Enfield reworked into the McDeeb Six Day will be ok, too.  http://https://s19.postimg.org/jonl75k83/Six_Day.jpg

That six-day is absolutely beautiful, but I think the Indian tracker would be more fun to ride!   ;D

On the other, that six-day is really well done.  I think I'm asking Santa for both.  "I've been really, really good this year Santa, I swear."

Thrills me to see so many tracker fans here on SS ! For the a long time I was the forum's red headed tracker stepchild or at least it seemed that way to me. However in my time here I have grown an appreciation of ALL forms of the Savage. From stock to the absolute unrecognizable (except the engine) builds. What a great forum with such great talent , proud to be a member.

Got an email from Indian saying the FTR1200 tracker will go into production for 2019 and you can win one here: https://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/ftr1200/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=selligent&utm_campaign=ind_1806_ftr1200_announced

Under the rules of the contest, they list the Grand Prize Value which might be a clue to MSRP...
"PRIZES:  Model year 2019 Indian FTR 1200, $15,000 package value"

All the hype and this is what were get for $13k??

Meh, no thanks, I'll pass.  For that money, it needs to be a finished street tracker, not some half assed, sort-of-naked bike.

Completely agree.  Disappointing.  Too much exposed trellis frame.  And what's up with the street bike seat?!  Bad decision.  The base model in black is boring.  At least the tank can look better on the more expensive model with the white inlay.
Too expensive.  And really, it doesn't need to be 1200cc.  750 or 950 would be good.
Oh, and those pointy turn signals.  Bleh.

A big disappointment - the street tracker concept turned into some kind of naked muscle bike......little or no "street tracker" appearance to my eyes.

It is to similar to the BWM R nineT, Ducati Scrambler, Yamaha MT10, KTM 1290 SuperDuke, etc.
