Title: 2008 FORD F-250 diesel
Post by raydawg on 10/25/17 at 09:25:13

Just about ready to unload a 16+ thousand on a truck.
Its a 2008 F-250 Supercrew 4x4 automatic Lariat with the 6.4 diesel.
Stock, no chips, modifications, raising, etc.

I am so ignorant about diesels.
The reviews, etc, are all over the place.
As with most things, I think it is mostly about maintence and upkeep, when buying used.
This is a one owner, with about 5 pages of CarFax showing they were religious about doing the recommended maintence.
They traded it in at 160,000 miles, for a new truck, however, they bought a Chevy Duramax, traders  ;D

I drove it yesterday and all I can say is WOW.

Anybody got any real experience with this truck/motor?

Thank you.

Check for rust on the rear lower side of the cab on the driver's side, behind the door.  Some have had a problem there in the states that use salt on the roads.

I know a retired engineer who holds patents on parts of that fuel system and he owns a similar Ford that he uses to pull a large travel trailer. I would ask him about it for you except he is off on one of his long trips now pulling his trailer somewhere, chasing the fall colors.

Around here, all the farmers always buy Ford trucks including my brother who has worn out more of them than I can count.  But last month he did something different, he bought a new Toyota.  I think it was mostly a matter of price and maybe the aluminum skin.

Thanks....
I have done a bunch of research but am still sorta doubting my ability to discern a good one.
There is a guy in Texas who buys and sells them, having sold 100's of them.
He buys from the government who uses that truck a lot.
He says they are either good, or bad.
Gave some great advice on a YouTube video.
I will put it to test before I give up the green.
He says if you delete some of the emission stuff, the truck will go over 500 thousand with no problem.
It's all about maintenance and proper driving techniques.
He says it's the best bang for the buck.
