Original thread on Dyna's is here, but the photobuket crap has the thread hard to follow. Some part# references are buried in there:

The direct bolt-on part# is supposedly 65747-94.  Others will work too, but some you don't want if they have the crossover pipe. The ones with the little 'buttons' with female threads are mountable, but you have to make a bracket to account for the offset of those mounting holes with the S40 mounting holes.

I have a catalytic muffler and have been running it for almost 3 years with no ill effects and no bluing of the pipe at all. Try not to get a catalytic if you can, but if that is all you can get in your area/country don't be scared of it.

I'm not the expert, but I think after looking at your examples 65868-07 and 65939-07 seem to have the "mounting rail" that you 'll want for easiest direct bolt-on installation.

Let some others chime in as well to confirm.

....and...here is a post from a few years ago on how I mounted my DYNA that has the little threaded buttons. images of the home-made rail adapter provided.

I dont know how many European members are here, but I like to find a Dyna muffler cheap.
I've seen them pre-loved at $100-150. That's daylight robbery!

Any sources in Europe?

I bought a couple of unused ones on eBay last year for £65 and then sold the one I didn’t need for £45 - result!

Patience is a virtue!

It was in my case - I had to wait a couple of months before the right ones turned up and there was a lot of rubbish ones on sale.

Good luck!

I picked up a couple for $100 here in Australia. Put one on the bike, and kept one as a spare. They were brand new. As said above, be patient, many Harley riders buy a new bike, and order some custom pipes ... then one day they think "I could probably sell these 'old' ones".

I have seen dented and scratched ones on sale for 100-150 Euro.
Horrible!
If that is the value, I would love to own a scrap yard.
