Title: Brake light always on
Post by Mekh on 04/29/17 at 10:44:22

Hi, was on a longer tour today with a bunch of other motorcyclists, and on the way back they noticed my brake light suddenly stayed on all the time.
I'm going on a new tour tomorrow and need to get this fixed.

Any ideas what I should check and look at/for?

Unplug the front brake light and see if it goes out , under the brake lever.
If that isn't it it has to be the rear brake switch it may just need adjustment. It has to be one or the other.

Thank you... I'll let you know later if it made a difference.

I just hate fiddling with the electric stuff on Motorcycles... :)

Both switches only have 2 wires each very simple.

It was the rear switch that was stuck...

I cleaned it as best I could and gave it some lube. Everything seems to work fine now, but I think I'll order a new one just in case. Thank you :)

It may be a minor thing, but in my experience it's a good thing to ask what to look for, when you have no experience at all yourself. Especially with electrical stuff :)

I have this issue on my K100...fortunately the Savage electrical diagram is much simpler!  :)
