Title: Tennessee fires
Post by Dave on 11/30/16 at 11:16:27

I haven't been able to get a good idea of the area or location of all the fires - but I did hear Maryville and Gatlinburg were involved.

I wonder if any of our riding areas have been affected?

The rain may have calmed them down some, but a whole lot of woods went up due to dry conditions and a bored teenager with a box of stick matches flicking them out of his car window.

Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg were hit hard on the outskirts of town, might have to detour up that way just to go see the damage level .....

The media seem less concerned than the severity would seem to dictate.

People died, and more are possible; hundreds of homes are gone; thousands of acres of beautiful mountains with trees up in smoke.
Those responsible need to be charged with murder.

My brother lives just south of the dragon area .   He sent  a picture of the valley below his place burning about two weeks ago.

Tragic, for sure. Here in the far west it's an annual occurrence we've come to expect like the changing of the seasons. Arson is inexcusable, but when conditions are right, fires can start from many sources, including an ATV with a faulty spark arrestor. Dirt Riders: Have you tampered with your factory exhaust system? Yep. It's illegal for a reason.

If it was, then 20 years community service would be appropriate.
We can send him a shovel and he can clean up his mess.

Hereabouts, if a person dies as a result of arson, which can include an act of negligence, it's manslaughter. Big time hard time, bustin' rocks and choppin' blocks.

Well, I just read that 2 teenagers have been charged with Aggravated Arson. While that won't undo the damage, at least justice will be served.

Denied bail,
Protective custody?
Lots of people want to skin Someone alive.

I wonder if they bragged about it on Look at My Stupid Facebook.
