Title: Who needs more revs?
Post by BSTON on 09/23/16 at 18:48:18

Who wants what I would consider about the exact opposite of the Savage? I'm seriously curious what 19k rpms sounds like.

There's some video of those bikes screaming around on youtube.

They say it's a very peaky power band on those too.

They're fun for a while but the constant wringing its neck gets tiring. You're always changing gears and getting caught below the powerband. Hilarious fun for a short while though and sublime handling in smooth road. What I like about thumpers: changing gear if you feel like it.

Imagine a 19K rpm thumper with the torque curve being as flat as ours is. Would be a lot of fun!

Check this one out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TzlX-mybgQ
he's awesome. Takes the guys on big bikes to school.
These bikes are hilarious fun but could you listen to that noise every day? Not me.

Aaaa, not so bad. The whine helps you pretend you're as good as Rossi.

Pretty lame.......Honda 250cc bikes with only 4 cylinders....Pffft!

Real men ride Honda 250cc bikes with 6 cylinders!

Too much wine and I am invisible (invincible?), well, either way!

That's an itty bitty cylinder at 41.67 cc's.

That 250/6 is the singular LOUDEST mechanical device I've ever heard. Honda did a demo ride at Mosport about 35 years ago. I was in the paddock when it was started. Indescribably loud, painful! 8-)

My Ninja 250 twin is listed as having around 30 HP @12,500 rpm...it feels fast (but really isn't all that fast).

The Honda CBR250RR 4 cylinder is 45HP @15,000 rpm.

The Honda 6 cylinder 250cc makes 62HP @ 18,000 rpm!

Looking at the rod, I'm gonna say they built the crank with the rods on the journals. Article says the crank can be bent by hand.
That's some crazy neurosurgical mechanical stuff.

That's the same theory behind Ferrari's 3.x liter V8s. Lots of little cylinders bringing in a ton of air to fill the combustion chamber makes hp at high RPMs.
