Hey Zipi, that image isn't reversed or something, cause it looks as if the disc is on the right. but I'm not the best brain or techwise.

Doesn't a new year just bring a colour change? it was red in Australia in 2015 and this year it is blue, so does that mean the US 2017 models will be last years Aussie 2016 models?

i love S40s, but I wish they would add fuel injection and better instrumentation.

According to your webby, it's available in blue or white, and same in the USA.

Probably will add $1000 to the price.

I don't like the sticker on the tank. I like the three dimensional badge versus a sticker.  The badge looks more legit to me.

Stewmills, I'd agree, white and blue are this years NZ colours as well.

Post by Dave on 09/12/16 at 12:33:25

Yep....I like the badge.  The sticker could be a "cost cutting" move to keep the price down another $ 4.

I like the badges, but I bumped my knee on it too often so I removed the badges.

My knees will only touch my tank badges if I am sitting directly on the speedo.  ;D

I am so "inseam challenged"that most foot pegs on cruisers are just a bit too far away for me to be comfortable with, not so the Zuki.

It is a bummer to be too small for most bikes, I hate it. Why are so many bikes so high off the ground. :'(

Because they are made by tall people.   ;)

Tall Japanese ?

I can ride a stock savage fine , but just can't get used to forward controls feels awkward to me. I prefer mid or rear set controls , suits my riding style better. I guess I could grow to like it. Have always prefered the action position , think that comes from riding & racing off road. I might get so comfy I might fall asleep.

If Suzuki came out with a standard like the Yamaha SR400 I would buy one in a minute. :) I think the Yamaha would be too 'viby' without a balancer.

Title: Re: 2017 model, BIG news!
Post by verslagen1 on 09/16/16 at 08:28:10

if suzuki came out with a standard, like the gr650 tempter single, maybe a twin, but with belt drive for less than $6000... I'd be sorely tempted.   8-)

Versy,
I'd buy that bike in a minute drum brake and all!

Are you listening Suzuki?

I also understand that Suzuki is giving some help to Ryca. That is encouraging.

Title: Re: 2017 model, BIG news!
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/16/16 at 11:42:43

If the 650 will go in that frame,,  mmmm mm..

Title: Re: 2017 model, BIG news!
Post by Ruttly on 09/16/16 at 12:13:59

Yes I have heard the rumor that Suzuki was helping out Ryca too , many years ago , I haven't seen any proof of that. Think it's just talk , maybe a way to make everyone think they are , to make Ryca more important or just Suzuki keeping an eye on  Ryca and checking on their kit sales numbers!

Keep your friends close , but keep your enemies closer !

I don't see how Suzuki would see Ryca as the enemy. If Ryca can generate interest in the savage that benefits Suzuki.

Title: Re: 2017 model, BIG news!
Post by Kenny G on 09/16/16 at 14:00:06

A few years ago Suzuki gave Ryca one brand new S40 for design work and testing.

Ya, Suzuki contacted me about my carb kits, cams and pistons recently too ... NOT !

Title: Re: 2017 model, BIG news!
Post by Ruttly on 09/16/16 at 20:20:14

Oooo really one whole bike,it was probably made into a bobber and sold. Suzuki don't give a crap , the savage is a niche bike , there are no others like it and they see the sr400 not doing so well here in the states , they are not about to build a standard, you want a standard buy a Yamaha , want a cruiser , that can be molded into any bike , buy the niche bike the s40 , it has its own market and Suzuki knows it they don't give a crap. Bet less than one percent of NEW s40's get bought and taken to RYCA to be transformed or are bought just for that purpose. It's a secondary market , all Suzuki cares about is the bottom line , how many they sell per year ! The secondary market means nothing, zero, zip, nada to Suzuki , no profit for them , they don't give a crap !
Now to us here this bike is many things to many people myself included , I think they are great bikes in all forms , especially Bots bike ! Don't ever be fooled by a Japanese businessman it has nothing to do with honor or any of that crap,it's the bottom line ,PROFIT !
The free bike was nothing but a business gesture, what was their cost/loss ,not much ! Might be a different story if the gave a 20 bike inventory to build bikes and honored a warranty with RYCA, but they don't do they ? Suzuki was just being nosy and don't forget they don't give a CRAP !

That's funny Lancer , the only time you will here from Suzuki it will be a lawyer with a lawsuit with your name on it for some type of infringement !

Title: Re: 2017 model, BIG news!

Title: 2017 S40
Post by Sarge on 10/07/16 at 12:06:16

The 2017 S40 is now shown on the Suzuki web site.  Looks like only changes are paint colors and black finish for rims, handlebars, fender and some other parts.  Looks like the old carburetor has survived for yet another year. ;)

Title: 2017 S40 Model?
Post by Savageman on 09/07/16 at 20:07:45

Will there be a 2017 S40 model or is it DEAD? Doesn't show up on Suzuki's
model lineup for 2017. I think it would have to be jewel infected (fuel injected) to meet CARB standards if they continue to manufacture it.

Has anyone heard?

Looks like they haven't finished their new lineup. None of the cruisers are there.

Oooo  EFI and that nice low compression ratio makes it the perfect engine for a cute little

TURBO

Not too much boost, keep it dialed down around 8 to 12

I hope they don't put fuel injection on it. The kiss principal works for me.
No fuel pump or electrics to make it run.

I suspect that the EPA will have it in the end. :'(

I wonder how long the head gasket lasts with that funky supercharger? That's SICK!

We all get nervous around this time of the year when the rumors fly about Suzi killing the Savage.

Title: Re: 2017 S40 Model?
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/08/16 at 19:27:23

THEY might as well keep selling it. There's so many out there they Hafta build parts or suffer a PR nightmare.
Unlike Microsoft, Suzuki HAS easily and affordably utilized competitors.

If Suzuki does continue production with a fuel injected model. The plus side will be fueling adjustments will be easier. :)

If you swap mufflers to a free flowing unit and change the intake and stuff a cam in the injection system will be easy to modify to get the mixture right?

Title: Re: 2017 S40 Model?
Post by Kris01 on 09/09/16 at 19:05:23

More than likely the ECU will take care of that.

Title: Re: 2017 S40 Model?
Post by Savageman on 09/09/16 at 21:07:58

Only way to adjust mixture is to have the ability to modify the software in the ecu. Also need the interface for Windows and a cable then the look up tables can be altered. Other than that probably can't do much. :'(

Who knows it might run better!

Title: Re: 2017 S40 Model?
Post by Kris01 on 09/09/16 at 22:16:21

You guys realize Suzi ain't gonna dump that much yen into this bike, right? They'll can the whole shebang and replace it with a TU250.

I don't know if the Enfield is more modern but it is certainly a fairly decent café racer, at least in style.  I have heard that it vibrates pretty badly.
