Title: best available Camchain?
Post by xxlron on 07/02/16 at 15:30:36

Hello, New Guy,  Nice site.  Bought a 05 , pulled right side case< found a versey modified adjuster (yes!). But cam chain is almost touching in the inside of the chain on this 49k bike. where is the best price? what goop on case to supplement old gasket? Thanks.

I use grey Form-a-gasket instead of a gasket .. works just fine .   Just let a med. bead of it  almost dry (both sides) before you put the pieces together , then don't tork them up (maybe #1 on battery powered drill or less) for a couple hours .   Then take them to full tork value.   I've never had a leak using it.  ;)

Unless it is an emergency repair, I use a gasket where the factory uses them.....same with sealer.  I don't use sealer where the factory uses a gasket.  I do add a small amount of sealer where the rubber wire grommets exit the cases.

Lancer is most likely a month or so away from having the new nitrided cam chains.....I expect them to arrive around the end of August - but the slow boat from Japan is ultimately the deciding factor!

If they aren't all spoken for, I want one.

Then you need to send Lancer a message, some folks have prepaid to guarantee they get one.
