Title: 2007 S40 Mod List Help
Post by j_osborne on 03/05/16 at 19:17:22

Hi everyone,

Happy to be a member now! I just picked up a 2007 S40 and was hoping I could get some help with initial mods to do, performance upgrades and where is the best place for a solo seat and chopped rear fender? I've been looking all over the internet but only found a rear mudguard that is close to what I want.

I understand switching to the Raptor 660 Petcock and the HD Dyna are quick and cheap upgrades, as well as the Cam Chain Tensioner.

So far I have removed the windscreen, bags, front turn signals, Corbin seat replaced with stock for now (wanting solo seat) and adjusted the handlebars.

Thank you! :)

Almost looks like Hairy Honda is trying to slip a fairing around Suzi. you may have to get them separate sleeping areas. :D
Welcome to the farm.

As far as performance up grades. You should see what I'm listing in my project . ( Café section. "Bang for the Buck" thread.)     The "Marketplace" is the place to look for what you want and to sell leftover bits.   8-)

Best mods to be done first....is proper carb jetting, and a DYNA muffler if you want a bit lighter muffler with just a bit more motorcycle sound.  The stock paper air cleaner works fine with the stock engine and stock carb.

Beyond that it starts to get a bit expensive.  The cam can be changed, the piston can be swapped for a Wiseco with higher compression and even bigger bore sizes, the head can get a little bit of port work.  With those mods you might be able to bump your 30 HP up to nearly 40.....it certainly makes a noticeable difference - but it does get costly.

I've been considering buying a windscreen.  Are you planning on selling the one you took off?

Follow this..
Ride the bike and get a feel for it, is this a bike for you to learn on or what?
The Savage is a great first bike and also a great forver bike.
It lacks its comfort at 65mph but is ok.

New Raptor 660 petcock is a great place to start for reliability then maybe a slipon for noise and a rejet, remember that the bike will sing at 65mph and could get annoying, that's the reason a dyna is recommended (bike will be singing not yelling)

I got this bike strictly to chill out a bit from my 600rr. I just wanted a new project bike and liked the way this bike is set up stock. I am not worried about noise as I am coming from the 600rr with headers and toce exhuast (baffles removed). It screams haha. I did purchase the Dyna muffler (cored out and great condition), can't wait to install!  :)
