Title: All threads have "New" posts
Post by linwiz on 09/06/15 at 06:21:28

I keep seeing the "New" icon for all threads, even when a new post has not been made. I Can click "mark as read" and come back later and they are all new again.

I don't know what's causing the problem.
The only thing I can think of is check the date on your computer.
some viruses are known to change the date to shut off protection.

My date is correct, however, I have some experience with computers and know that my computer's date doesn't have any effect on these forums.

The typical method of knowing whether a thread has been read since the last post is storing that information in the forum's database. The only possible way that the forums could (but don't) know what time my computer is set for is through javascript, and I have the same results with javascript disabled and enabled.

As a side note I use a linux distrobution, and while not impossible, It's unlikely that I have a virus on my system.

UPDATE:
I have also tested and experience the same issue on my iPhone.

I don't know what the deal is either. What I found works for me, at least, is to go to the forum page and hit the "Mark all as read" button. that does it for me. I cannot mark them in each category, have to do them all. IDK

I've posted the wrong information, sorry. After more testing it seems that If I click one forum ' mark all read' the rest of the forums are all marked 'unread'. If I go click one of them as 'read' then the one I just clicked 'read' is now unread.

Yep, that's the way it worked for me. I clicked mark all as read from the general category page to mark them as all read, and that works for me.  :-/

I don't know hoot, so this is probably ridiculously funny, but could the
Accept/Dont accept snacks
Button be set for
Don't accept?

Ah. usually you couldn't do that, but only because it is common practice to use cookies to tell the site you have logged in with your credentials. no cookie means you're not logged in.
