Title: Clutch problem??
Post by ZuluPapa on 11/01/14 at 07:48:30

2008 S40--approx 2k miles on it.

I've recently noticed this apparent 'leak' near my clutch case (if that is the improper term you'll have to forgive me).  Also--it appears where the cable enters the case it is 'loose'.
Am I riding an unsafe bike or is this normal?

Also--first post!

Here is the link to a pic of what I'm trying to describe:  imgur.com/KcGHTOY

Edit: I can't post a link as a first post...

If that's unsafe,.. mine's a hand grenade... ;D...

We do weep a little here and there... you can spend your time meticulously fixing every little leak,.. or just wipe off the really nasty bits and ride...

I choose to ride... ;)...

Awesome. It doesn't concern me if it isn't a safety issue.
My real concern was if that gap was normal or if it meant my clutch cable was going to somehow slip out and leave me stranded.

I can't really see what you are talking about, but mine oozed a little from where the clutch actuator shaft went through the case. The hardware store has the o-ring you need for about a quarter.. It's not even almost worth messing with until it's time to go in and check the cam chain, which is when you can slap a Verslavy in it and get the last miles out of that chain AND, because Verslagen has engineered a "Stop" into it, it won't allow the tensioner to spit its guts into the spinning gears and ruin your engine.
