Title: Perfect timing
Post by ToesNose on 10/31/14 at 04:30:17

I made plans to go check out a Royal Enfield so of course there is a cold front coming through this weekend  ;D  It's not supposed to get out of the 40's during the day tomorrow which is really unusual for here this time of the year in NC. Guess I'll have to dust off the leathers for a test drive LOL.

I saw some Royal Enfields at the AMA event this year.  They look really cool and retro.  Those front forks look as steep as they were on my trials bike, I bet it turns quickly.

Can you get a "cold weather discount"?

Good luck, Toes. They're a sweet ride. Just don't be disappointed when it doesn't go as hard as the mighty Savage. Enfields are not famous for making big power. Pretty cool for chugging around on tho.

@Dave- Yes the price is right for this time of the year, part of how I got the Wifey to agree LOL.

@ Gizzo-Oh I know, I lived in India for a while and am familiar with RE's  ;)

Not breaking the 40's and raining all day today, the guy is available tomorrow which will be clear and in the 50's, another night dreaming of adding another Thumper  ;D

My first bike was a '37 RE Bullet trials bike.  (500cc four valve dual exhaust dual plug single). Bought it from the original owner, and it was his first bike too. He bought it from a dealer in Toronto because it was the only bike at the time with a foot shift, and he didn't want to take his hand off the handle bars to shift.
And it wasn't exactly slow either- I had it up to 98 mph----once :o.
I bought the S40 to "relive my youth".

Very cool arteacher, but I would think coming close to the ton on any RE would be nerve wracking!  ;D

Well I checked it out and had a fun ass test ride! Got to ride on all different ground conditions, off road, fire roar and pavement  :D WEEEEEEE. Unfortunately the bike had been downed by the original owner and there was too much collateral damage, just enough to kill the deal for me. But on the plus side I had a hell of a ride and might have found a new riding buddy LOL. Great bike at a steal of a price, I just don't feel like sorting all the issues out myself.
