Is the regulator/rectifier the same for all years? I took a look in the tech section and didn't see that information anywhere.

there are 6 wire and 5 wire rectumfryers.

I had a 6 wire once, probably out of the '88. (converted to '02 wiring)

Mine is 6 wire but I am seeing several 5 wire that are spec'd to fit 86-94 and some 6 wire. Any idea what the function of the extra wire is? Maybe external voltage sensing as opposed to internal?

Found out the 6th wire is on/off for the regulator. When the key is on, it is energized and turns on the regulator IC.
