Title: metric feeler gauge
Post by plsully3 on 06/21/14 at 11:56:17

I am trying to find a metric feeler gauge that doesn't jump from .10 to .15 mm. I adjusted my valves to .09, making sure the .10 didn't fit and the .09 did. I'd like to back them up to .11 but I want a set which has .08, .09, .10, .11, .12 and .13. I can't seem to find one. Any ideas about where I can find one?

An SAE-based Craftsman might help. Mine has 0.127mm / 0.005 in.

I think most people in the USA just convert to English units for valves because thousandths of an inch just seems more convenient for things like valve clearance.

The specs for the valves on my 2006 are .008 to .13. The set I've got jump from .10 to .15.  In inches the gauges jump from .004" (.10 mm) to .005" (.127mm). My valves seem finicky (perhaps a bigger issue lurks in there somewhere) but I've got them at .09 mm and would like to back them up to .11 mm. I'd like to get them where the .12 mm doesn't fit but the .11 mm does on all of the valves. A bit obsessive I know. But I can't find a set of feeler gauges which accommodate my, perhaps unnecessary, need for exactness.

What you need is precision feeler stock from a quality house.
buy whatever size you want.

even these make the jump from .10 to .15:
0.08, 0.09, 0.10, 0.15
Oh well... a lost cause I suppose

oh ... I see what's available at the link above... exactly what you said... order whatever size I want... sorry missed that when I first looked at it... thanks.

Why not add the .004, .005 and .0015 to get .0105, should be close enough to .011? Or is that something not done with feelers over there?  No trying to be rude here, just mentioning it.
I guess it can be difficult stuffing 3 feelers in that space that is hard to get only 1 in.

gizzo is right sorta

a .003" and a .0015" in metric is .1143mm

of course, I know you want .11mm   ::)

If you think you bike runs better so try an indicator clock, http://www.tmbelectronics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=365
