Title: fuel issue after raptor install Post by roadrunner2432 on 06/09/14 at 20:44:17 I have a 1995 Savage 650 with 1500 miles I did the 6in extenders I bought here last weekend and the bike felt great until about mid week I was experiencing some fuel issues I found to be common with the stock vacuum operated pet thingy I quickly purchased the raptor petcock and installed it with no problems and the bike started right up with visible fuel. I installed it with a new in line fuel filter and 1/4 fuel line. The minute I put the bike into first gear with the clutch still engaged the bike died. I put the stock hose and stock filter with the same result and tried straight 1/4 line with no filter and got the same result. Any feed back or questions would be greatly appreciated help get my bike back on the road! |

Its an immediate cut off the minute I put it in first gear I'm now wondering if there's some wiring issue with the kick stand safety switch maybe its not getting engaged all the way |

Tell me how bud because that sounds lovely. I am now thinking after I installed my raptor I re tightened up my extenders and left out some washers when I installed those I bet the kick stand is off the mark now and isn't engaging even when its up will report back when I get back to my bike |

Title: Re: fuel issue after raptor install Post by Dave on 06/10/14 at 06:11:11 It is not uncommon for the kickstand switch to fail - they live in a place where spray from wet roads or puddles is constantly splashed on them. If you follow the kick stand safety switch wires along the frame and up to the area on the left side of the bike.....about where the frame cover is...you will find a connector. You can just disconnect the safety switch plug and jumper the two wires.....and see if the bike starts. If it works - it is up to you if you want to leave it that way permanently. I have been riding long enough that I developed a system....I get on the bike, put up the kickstand, turn on the key and start the bike. There is little chance I would ever ride off with the kickstand down so the kickstand switch being gone doesn't bother me. Dave |

When I put on my 4" extenders I extended the wires for the kickstand switch. I don't remember if the switch is adjustable, I will check |

Title: Re: fuel issue after raptor install Post by roadrunner2432 on 06/10/14 at 10:07:56 Fortunately the extenders I purchased did not extend the kickstand or the safety switch, those stayed in their stock position. Only the shift linkage and the peg were extended out. I will check for that wire and see if disconnecting helps, this problem may just be resolved with a washer to help the kick stand get back on the mark for that button. I will let you guys know when I get back to my bike around 4pm. I appreciate all the input! |

The kickstand safety button wire fell between my extender plate and the kickstand plate and when I tightened it all down I severed the safety button wire. Cleaned the wires up and butt connected them back together and reinstalled the raptor petcock and she runs and drives again thanks for all the input guys. She does feel a little starved though cruising around thinking of upping my fuel line up to 5/16 from 1/4 |
