Title: personal problem, Please delete if inappropriate
Post by shorty on 05/01/14 at 04:46:40

been cleaning up some poison ivy that causes problems every spring..
seems the stuff is unstoppable, mowing doesn't remove it, scalping to bare earth doesn't remove it..

This year been ripping it out with bare hands, seems my hands are too callous to absorb the poison..

After dealing with the ivy, moved on to some other outside chores, forgot about the poison, relieved myself and hours later developed a serious personal problem. Yes it's funny but I am truly miserable! can't sleep, can't sit still, nothing I do comforts the itch  :(

Eaux Neaux! Ive been less than careful when dealing with jalapenos & suffered, but that goes away in a while,, Id get some Calamine, hey, first, Id go to a Walgreens or something & talk to a pharmacist,,but, if that doesnt get you better advice than this, then, I would get Calamine & a condom, do whatever ya hafta do to get that thing set up to get the condom on,, get it dosed up with the lotion & get the condom on. Mite be ahead with a jock strap. Once things "relax" the condom mite just come off while youre walking around. A jock strap mite help in that regard.

Go buy some of the soap made for clearing up the ivy rash. And a tube of hydrocortisone. Between the 2 of them, should clear the rash up in about 24-36 hours.

Been there, but with Virginia Creeper vine.

Go to the doctor.

I too seem to be able to ward off the oils on my hands, but it will creep onto my arms. Anything that will remove oil works ( for the oil). Warmth/heat will increase reaction so keep things cool. I have used ivory liquid dish soap to keep the oil down, though it drys the skin making it more prone to infection.

The problem is you can develop a systemic reaction. Meaning the washing off the oil does nothing. Benadryl and prescriptions become the norm in such cases.

i also find that as I have aged, my body is not as quick to heal. So keeping the sores to a minimum is a goal for me.

Yes to Dr.; he  can give you a shot that will reduce the "discomfort"

thanks gentlemen,
I expected to hear jokes and prodding but you roughnecks had kind advice instead..
I will ride to the pharmacy immediately and try everything suggested above. The doctor advice will be on hold only because it takes me a week to make the money he charges for 20 minutes.
I can't show my wife because I look like a freak down there, I've been telling her I've got a headache...LOL  ;D

I did that once,.. dicing up a couple of pounds of peppers to freeze...
I realized after about 10 minutes after, that my hands felt really hot, but it was too late...
I'd already wiped tears from my eyes, and pee'd... then after washing madly, I managed to spread it further around my face, hands, arms,.. and junk...
Felt like I pepper sprayed myself... ;D...
Lesson learned... I bag my hands now before touching hotsy peppers... :-[...

Best luck, Shorty...  Hydrocortizone cream will reduce redness, swelling, and burning... but if your hands are still affected, wear gloves to apply the cream to yer' junk...
;)...

after reading about the transfer of oils involved... you probably don't want to even touch her least your current status goes from bad to worse.

I learned two sure ways to get rid of craps when I was in the Navy.

1. Go to a theater to watch a long movie.........
Buy some popcorn and heavily salt it....
   ..........find a seat
...........Unzip and drop some heavily salted popcorn in your pants...
When the craps leave in search of a drink.......
   change seats.

2.  Shave one side........
Pour lighter fluid on the other side and light it on fire
When the crabs run into the clearing......
.....stab 'em with an ice pick.

(WARNING .....doing both solutions inside the theater may result in getting banned for life from the theater)

OK, HERE GOES.

OLIVE OIL ! Not just any oil, olive oil. It works wonders for hot peppers (I once was in Tunisia and "by mistake" a hot chili pepper "fell" in my otherwise unhot fish sauce,
there was NOTHING I could do to easen the burning in my mouth until (another) waiter came to the rescue with a bottle of salad dressing (olive oil & herbs) and a spoon.
One mouthful of olive oil will "cleanse" the pepper oils in seconds.

If Poison Ivy liquid is oil-based, olive oil is the most powerful natural, skin and genital-friendly solvent.

HTH...  ;)

PS If it works, once you're "good" DO NOT WASH WITH SOAP as it will dissolve the oil that's actually protecting you.

Remain "hot & sticky", your skin will become soft and mellow and sooo velvety smooth...  :-*

:D :D :D

;)

I just want you all to know that I've never had any incident like this with poison ivy or hot peppers.

The worst I've ever done was shaved, on the request of my girlfriend, and that was its own Hell.
