Title: Discussion of ZDDP Booster Blend Table
Post by Kris01 on 03/26/14 at 11:21:00

I use 2 ozs. of booster to 1 gallon of Rotella.  Puts me right in the correct range of ZDDP and the booster bottle will last me 8 oil changes!

Here is a link to the Blend Table

The acceptable limits of ZDDP recommended on this site are between 1,200 and 1850.

I run the Redline and I want around 1,400ppm.....I therefore add 1 oz. per gallon....or 1.25 ounce per 5 quarts.

"Too much" seems to be over 2000 ppm.  The best level of zinc (or ZDDP) is generally accepted to be around 1500 ppm.

Over 2000 ppm and the zinc actually digs into the metal and wears it away.  Think metal shavings roaming around your engine!

Eastwood has ZDDP on sale for 6.95 on their website right now.

If you are talking the 15W-40 Rotella T.....it may have enough at 1,250 ppm.  The table works for the white bottle Rotella T and the blue bottle of Rotella T-6.

Here is the full oil discussion thread link so you can read up on it:

Here is Oldfeller's statement of adequacy:

600 ppm is way way so not enough
800 ppm is so not enough
1,000 ppm is not enough
1,200 ppm is enough
1,500 ppm is comfortably enough
1,850 ppm is more than ample (rubinesque)
2,100 is somewhat difficult to control
2,500 likely might smother you accidentally
