If you have a photo of yer' speedo, that'd be nice,.. but if you don't, we'll take your word for it...
Just tell us in a post below, what your mileage is, and we'll pop you under the appropriate medal...

...(Please state it, if your miles were accumulated on multiple bikes)
...(and, all bikes must be Savages)...
...(and if there is a question about the PO's original miles vs yours... just go with the number you prefer: this ain't a contest.  If you wish, state both your miles and the total original miles)...
I may keep any speedo pics you submit and stick them all together in this post...

Happy trails... ;)...

I like the way this is set up.  The awards list the miles on each bike, and the total miles the riders have done......kind of a Two-fer.

Its hard not to like the LS650 !  :)

My plan is to ; "Do nothing , extra" to the second bike.   Just reg maintenance and keep it stock and idled up a little(except the cam tensioner -- already done) .   It should last a long time. ;)   I've got the backrest to match the seat now . ::)

Dear Serowbot, if the 40235 kms is translated into miles exactly, it should work out just over 25000. May I have one of your small awards? Bike brought new September 2010. Regards J C Stokes.

These mileage awards are truly impressive.  I think it is great that these members are recognized.  It would be nice if their status could be somehow noted in their everyday posts as a different style of stars, or special color, something like that.

Serowbot, have you checked the mileage Paladin did on his Savage, I could be wrong, but one of his posts seemed to indicate more than 30000 miles?

When I bought my '86 it had abput 7,000 miles on it.Rode it until about 35,000 then bobbed it.So it has about 50,000 on her.Still running strong when I sold her.Now to start putting miles on the '87.Others combined probably 10,000 on the first purple one('87)this purple '87,and the green '00. ;D

I've put an additional 10K on my 2003. Which is almost back together (cosmetic change up). Had an electrical system melt down like on my 98. Have combined the 2 bikes to make 1 runner.

Okay, other than no time to ride. 10K for me is pathetic. Have only put around 20K on the 03 in the 11 months I've owned it...  :'( Should have around 35K (by me) on it by now. Cheap Savage electrical systems...

Sure.  Got my 2000 Savage in '04 with 5K miles on it.  Sold the bike in '13 with 35K miles on it.  30K miles in 8 years is under 4K miles a year.  Now I am tired and retired I've done 14K miles in 30 months, a bit under 6K miles/year.  Same license plate and frame on the Savage and the Scoot.

OK.. This more of a personal milestone, but I thought it was worth mentioning.  ::)
Noticed this when I got home from July 4th ride out in the Hill Country.

Thumper has "lapped" Mad Hamish in the odometer arena.

Mad Hamish 37,996 (call it 38,000)

http://www.bikepics.com/pics/2015/07/05/bikepics-2748726-800.jpg

Thumper 138,043 (call it 138, 000)

http://www.bikepics.com/pics/2015/07/05/bikepics-2748727-800.jpg

and I have video of them both running, and both the odometers.

Next milestone target: 150,000 for Thumper or 200,000 combined  :D

For the record, Thumper did 35,269 miles before I killed it, about 30,000 of them were mine over the eight years I had it -- about 3,800 miles/year.

Thank yew, Thank yew very much!!
I would like to thank:
Verslagen1, for the verslavys, a critical engine component (at a reasonable price)
Lancer, for the nitrided cam chain (still ticking along), and critical components at reasonable prices.
Dave, also for critical components at reasonable prices
Shell, for Rotella T6.  An oil that does what we need (at a reasonable price).
My wife, for understanding that life with me would be even more difficult if I didn't get out and RIDE!!
Special thanks to all the people here with all the problems and all the people that provided solutions.  You just don't know when somebody had the same problem you have now, and the fix is .. right here!!  :D

OK, I'm a relatively new S40 rider. Being keen to progress to eligibility for the Miles Hall of Fame, I posted in March 2016 that my (new in Dec 2015) S40 had then passed 5000 km. It's now done 10,000 kms so I'm posting again. Further posting will occur at 20,000 then eventually 40,000. I'm 74, so hope I make it! The bike is great.

The first cam chain replacement was a nitrided one (Lancer's first batch) at 81k.  Moved to 2nd hole on Verslavy at 105k.

I will have it open again when I pull the head to send to Lancer, so I will put in another at that time... just because it is open.

Well.. at least in total miles..  The only way I can keep ahead of most anybody on a ride is if I am the only one who knows where he is going.. or knows how to get back.

Dave , did you get that from a Savage out of my area ?     I'm guessing the guy who bought my first one has parted it out (I've never seen it out riding around).

No, I bought it long before you got rid of your other bike.  I installed it on my bike in 2012 when I came to my first group ride.....my bike only had about 1,000 miles on it and it was like new - I thought the speedometer with 40,000 miles on a spotless bike would get a few folks scratching their heads in disbelief!

Double whammy!

Thursday 07 Sept. Delevan, NY 48 degrees 10AM 49,727 miles

Friday 08 Sept. Palm Beach Gardens, FL, 91 degrees 9:30 AM 30 hours before hurricane Irma, 51,061 miles

23.5 hours, 1,334 miles and one SORE BUTT!

I think I'm up for a Iron Butt and 50k!!

Do I get double IDIOT points for riding INTO the path of a hurricane?
The roads were solid cars northbound from Charlotte, NC south. Not much traffic southbound thou.

Badwolf, you definitely earned the iron butt award. Heck, that is more miles than I care to do in one day in a car. My hat's off to you! :o

I've had the S40 for 3 years and 7 months; have reached the milestone of 40,000 k -- submitted for inclusion in the awards. I know that 25,000 m is actually 40,250 k, but I've been running 140/90 rear tyres since 13,000 k which means my actual mileage is about 41,400 k due to the 5% odometer understatement, trust this is OK

Piston: yes
Rings: no

When Lancer did my valves at 155,000, I pulled off the cylinder.  Took that and the piston to a machine shop to have them checked.  Both were still within tolerances.  They just honed the cylinder.  New rings (stock size) were put on.

The cam bearing surfaces on the head were remarkably like new.  Only the valves and seals needed replacement; the valves had tiny hairline cracks on the outer edges of the valves.  Also did a valve job done on it, otherwise no issues.

At 199,300 something now.

Maybe I should hold off when I get real close to see if the "boys in the band" (Hill Country Savage run) want to have a celebration ride if they come down this year.  :-/

I can always ride Mad Hamish until then.

Since I just got new rubber for the bike and I calculated that I change the rear tire pretty much every 24 months, I am curious to know what tires you high mileage guys run on your bikes, how often you change that tires and what kind of mileage are you getting from these tires. I expect I will hit an indicated 40K miles this year. I'll have to do a bit of math to figure out actual mileage due to the taller gearing and bigger rear tire.

I use Metzeler Marathon tires.  Always have except for one bad experience with Pirelli Route 66.
According to my crappy maintenance records:
I get between 12k and 18k on the rear.  The last 2 tire changes were low (12k) mileage due to cracks at the bottom of the tread.  Still had good tread otherwise. Made the vendor cough up a refund on the 2nd one.
Before that, usually 16k or better.
Front tire.  28k to 35k.
Metzelers are not cheap, but I ride a lot and would spend the difference on tire change labor in the same amount of time.

That's some
Time in the Saddle..
I appreciate it
I miss it.
And I Am impressed by the Big Mile Savage riders.
I had a little over20,000 on my first one I sold because my health was failing and I did not think I could continue to ride. After a few years I was doing better and a friend offered me a deal on another Savage. I rode it until some gal turned left across me.
No broken bones, but it left some marks. Old men don't bounce like teenagers. My
Getting it Done ability is much diminished.

I have a trailer load of parts. If you are hunting stuff, drop me a line.

Bought the '05 S40 with 5K last spring and it just rolled over 9k. Lots of miles to go.

Dear Serowbot, note this doesn't qualify for an award. It merely demonstrates that the bike has done 100,000 kilometers or 62138 miles. If you get a photo showing 20698, in fact 120698 Km, it will mean the bike has done 75000 miles. This next photo may be 3 or 4 years away. Regards J C Stokes.

This doesn't compare to some of the miles I've seen racked up on the Savage, but I pulled over to get this pic on the way home today.
