Title: Registration not possible...
Post by Bluesman on 12/12/13 at 07:15:43

My young protegé biker lady cannot register an account. She keeps getting an error message about having to accept the forum requirements/rules. She does. Over and over again, in Firefox and IE ...still wonīt get an accept.

Wonder if this gets triggered by her trying for a user name with a space in it?

Edit: nope. Without spaces wonīt work either. Please investigate?

Richard I'm not very savvy on these matters but since no one else has jumped in I'm going to hit the "alert moderator" button in hopes that versy or Dave will see this and help you and your friend out.

It may be the internet settings on her computer.

have make the account on your computer.

Well, she tried from 2 different PCs, one being the same where I successfully applied. Two different browsers, I simply canīt see what goes wrong.

Edit: PC number 4 and 5 shows the same behaviour. Just tried from 2 workplace PCs. And everything IS filled out properly.  :-/

Edit II: There are a few small errors in the HTML code - an extra " in the beginning (pointing to the "register" button) and a / in the "reason" code (incidentally just before the "accept" stuff), but these are minor and should be ignored by most browsers. Beats me. Iīll keep trying  ;)

Edit III: now 8 different PCs in 3 different locations tried. XP, Win7, Win8, Firefox & MSIE of different versions, older and new. Nothing works. Please investigate.

Edit IV: I see the verification code, and type it in. BUT: there is a section in the code about "Your second verification code is:" and "verification Code 2:" This part never gets displayed in the registration page. If itīs not visible, I cannot comply. Maybe that triggers the error, which is interpreted as a failure to accept the rules. My guess.

How many verification codes should there be to type? One, or two?

Well, I am at my witīs end. A check of the registration page against 2 different HTML validators gave some interesting results, though.
Copy the page URL into one of these and have a look:

http://www.freeformatter.com/html-validator.html

http://validator.w3.org/

When was this registration page last edited? Must have been recently, since I succeeded to register a couple of weeks back.  Just a thought.

Hm. It is obviously possible for some to register, but I/we still fail. Now, the only reason left (logically - since we tried all combinations of OS and browsers) has to be in the data we submit. Would it be possible that the forum engine wonīt accept hotmail.SE as a legal domain?

Cīmon people - whatīs wrong here?  ::)

Also, I am curious - the last 10 new members, how did you register? From a computer or phone? What OS, what browser?

Hm. Anyone at all looking into/caring at all about  this? And yes, a happy new year to all.

That address might in all actuality be blocked, from the server that this forum is housed on.
Other than using characters in a name or an email that cannot be found, the only other alternative would be that the domain address has been blocked from the main server because of spamming issues or some such.
Does she have a "yahoo.com" address?  Have her make one up from your computer and then do the "email confirmation" from that.

Hi. I tried for three weeks to register on this Site with no luck. Today after two unsuccessful attempts on my playbook I decided to try on my z10. Worked first shot. I don't know why, but im glad to be in the group. Have a great day everyone....
