Title: Rear pulley play/wobble - normal? Post by dkruitz on 04/07/13 at 10:32:52 I was going over my still new to me 2004, and was cleaning the black portion of the rear pulley and noticed some play in it. It moves a bit along with the inside drum guard (sorry about the terminology.) It's not a lot of movement - about 1/16th of an inch or less - but should I expect to see any back there, or am I being a nervous newbie? |
Title: Re: Rear pulley play/wobble - normal? Post by rfw2003 on 04/07/13 at 10:37:41 some play is normal, the rear pulley is isolated to the hub with rubber bushing to reduce the shock into the rear wheel, so some is to be expected. R.F. |

Post by wambr on 04/07/13 at 10:40:44 I can't answer absolutely precisely-how much is it OK... but on my Savage, when I found a similar backlash, changed the bearing in the drum rear pulley to a new one. since then I have traveled more than 10,000 miles away. and it is not repeated. |
Title: Re: Rear pulley play/wobble - normal? Post by dkruitz on 04/07/13 at 11:35:55 OK. I'll make a note of the distance then check it in a couple thousand miles - just passed 2,500 on it today. |
