white is water,..
black is fuel,...
Blue,... is oil...

When did you last fill up with fuel?... add any strange additives?... I'm not sure what color diesel burns...
I'm guessing,.. black...

Too rich (over fueled) - black
Bad injector pattern - white mist
Diesel in a gas engine - a dead battery? ::)

Fueled up after guy at work told me about the blue smoke.  No additives added.  Oil is dead center of the fill up lines.  Keep it checked because it leaks from the plug like so many others.

Sounds like either a defective helmet insert or a bad steering controller...

How many miles? Any reason to suspect piston ring damage? I think Serobot is right, oil is blue. Is there any way at all you can think of that happened where oil would get into they system between fuel and exhaust? Any new noises, oil changes, anythng done recently?

Little over 22k. No oil change. No work done.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  Just the blue smoke.

extended long idle times with the idle set below 1000 rpm would definitely do enough damage to cause excessive wear in a hurry to cause this situation.  Either that or the oil pump gear popping out of place and not engaging properly so in effect not pumping oil through the motor.

blue smoke is burning oil, rings or valve guides.

have you ran with the choke out over an extended time?

BTW: 22k, have you checked your cam chain? about due.

Blue smoke is always oil being burned but how it's getting into the combustion chamber is the thing. Here are a few simple things I have seen in the past....blue smoke at startup but goes away in a few minutes ususlly means bad valve seals...(My old pickup truck does that now) when she sits the oil in the cylinder head around the valves drains past the valve seals into the cylinders and you will get some blue smoke for a few vminutes after startup.....blue smoke under hard acceleration means rings and/or valve guides...blue smoke under deceleration usually means just valve guides. Perhaps a top end rebuild is in order unless the smoke isn't too bad and you can live with it until December.  But this ain't gospel...just some possible causes.
