Today, before he gave the traditional Sunday greeting from the balcony outside of his study to the throng in St. Peter's Square, he went to a side gate in the Vatican and went out into the street to shake hands and meet the people one on one. Nice gesture, I think. At the end of his more formal remarks from the balcony, he told the crowd to "have a nice lunch", in Italian of course. The news article said that Sunday lunch with family is a big deal - it's a traditional family time in Italy. |

I went to a Jesuit high school, and the Jesuits there made no bones about the Vatican not trusting/liking the order... Should be interesting, a Pope from the military arm of the church. |
