Title: removing muffler from header
Post by ajhoff83 on 01/29/13 at 16:20:22

Anyone have any tips for removing the stock muffler from the header pipe. I have ot all off the bike and unddi the 2 clamps that are supposed to hold it on but not budging. Its an 86 so im sure its stuck on there. Do I just need to be a little more heavy handed with a hammer?

A little bit of heat never hurt either. Get her hot and twist and shout.

you can hit it with some denutter or pblaster or liquid wrench and let it sit overnight then heat it.  I've heard of other stuff...maybe here on the forum...kerosene and trans fluid?

Acetone and trans fluid is what you were thinking of. I've read that it works better than any store bought product, just don't let it touch any painted surfaces.
