Title: rear brake pad indicator
Post by John on 09/02/12 at 14:09:31

I don't know why I just now bring this up, but here's the question: I've noticed that for my rear brake "indicator", the metallic piece that would point to the (I might have this backwards, but hopefully you're getting the picture) isn't there. It doesn't appear that it has rotated to reflect that the brake pads have been worn down, but here's the question: without that metal pointer, is there any good way to know? Do I need to take off the rear wheel and examine them?

Along the same lines, anyone recommend a good rear drums brake pad\pads?

there's a line scribed in the brake arm shaft.
it points to a wear indicator on the brake hub.
no pointer.

If your stuff doesn't squeal, plan on keeping it for a while.   They rarely every wear out, them rear brake drum shoes.

If you have yourself a squealer, go for NO SQUEAL BREAK SHOES.
