Suzuki ST400 Tempter,  now there's a tank I would like to see on an LS650 cafe conversion    ;)

Nice "old School" styling that I like.  I think I like the styling of my LS more on the minor things like front disc and less gap between the rear tire and fender.

Yes JOG there is.
engine ST400 and LS400 the same from within. the differences are only in the decorative covers the cylinder head and the external mechanism of transmission. in size and locations of installation of the engine in the frame they are also the same consequently the engine from ls650 can be installed in the frame st400, but with chain drive.
and well may be a little'll have to remake the frame...

If I can't have the bike......at least let me have the muffler.

It even has the old school rims with the raised edges.

Pine, we do have the cool stuff. We ride 'em. And I can't believe the photo taken on the side of the hill was just an accidental suggestion by the photographer.  ;D

The engine is almost the same (provide the LS400 and the Tempter share the same engine).  The only difference is the size of the piston/bore, and it is chain drive.  One forum member had a LS400 and attempted to install the LS650 piston and cylinder - then found out the wrist pin was 1mm smaller diameter on the 400 engine.....so Suzuki has designed in a away to prevent (or slow you down) in making the cc upgrade.

If Suzuki brought the Temper into the US....they sure could give the Yamaha SR400 some competition (and Royal Enfield).

Dave,

I was thinking an engine swap, provided they share physical dimensions ...

And that was implied in my response....the only confirmed difference we know of comes from the LS400 - which is identical except for the piston/cylinder diameter, and wrist pins size.  The other parts....including the engine case is the same.  No one has provided any information on the stock sprocket for the LS400 or Temptor - so we don't know how the countershaft sprocket is spaced.....or if it uses the same transmission shaft as the bikes with pulleys.

(And......the head cover caps are not the chrome covers - they are really cool finned ones!).
