Sad, but better than watching from the saddle as it drives off a cliff.

Yonuh Adisi,
Welcome to the ranks of FSO (Former Savage Owners).   I sort of think we're a bit psycho.

I walk up to LS650 riders and start talking and they think I'm a little nuts.   Some stranger on a bigger bike all excited to see a thumper .....

Driving down the road with the family in the car and one rides by and I'm doing the" twisting the head to see it" thing.    The family  thinks I'm goofy.....

If you've done major work on them like you and I, it's hard to get it out of your blood.

Yes we are (a bit pyscho that is!) ;)

You'll NEVER get the LS650 out of your DNA ... NEVER ... once you fall in love with the 'Zuki Thumper, they are a part of your heart for good! But, there are other wonderful scooters out there to play with ... maybe someday you'll have something else ... or maybe another Savage ... I reget ever selling my original Savage every day, but have had a lot of fun with the other Bikes I've owned too!

Chin up Yonuh ... things will look up ... and in the meantime, we, your "family" are here for ya buddy! You know you can get a fix of LS650 right here!

A bad move my friend ,it was paid for ,right ?
Are you ever going to get another bike, ?
You could have cancelled the insurance, winterize it,throw a blanket over it and forget it until things get better . The couple of K you now have in your pocket will be gone soon ,with nothing to show for it.
Sorry Yanuh but you will regret it.
Good luck in your job search.

When a guy needs $$$, he needs $$$. He may mourn the fact he had to sell it, but he did the responsible thing. Its hard to really regret doing what ones family needs, ever.

Sorry to hear about it, but just look at it as an opportunity to start with a fresh canvas later on down the road, to make another work of art.

I'm curious, is the business idea that you sold your bike to get capital for, related to the VAWT project?  Either way, you sold it as an investment that should ultimately get you the opportunity to get an even better bike, right?

Post by PerrydaSavage on 01/07/11 at 09:58:38

When I sold my S40 back in April, it was a combination of factors ... firstly a knee-jerk, state of shock reaction to my wife wanting out of our marriage and I knowing that she really doesn't like motorcycles ::) ... also, I needed a few quick bucks at the time to help furnish a small apartment that I was about to move into. Sold the Bike for about $5-700 less than I coulda got for it ... still regret selling her ...
BUT ... with the help of my kind brother, I have another (and quite different) Scoot to jump on come Spring!!
There's always another motorcycle!
Good Luck Yonuh!!!

The business idea is building a rabbitry, raising rabbits for meat. However if the VAWT I am working on works as planned I will be building a bigger one with solar panels to run the rabbitry off of.

Unfortunately the money I got off of the sell of the bike had to go to household bills since I lost my job.

There is a tiny glimmer of hope though, I have a job interview on Tuesday so with any luck I may not be out of work for too much longer.

Good luck with the job interview!  Also on the rabbit raising venture.

Every Easter a local minister who serves the homeless cooks up the annual Easter Rabbit Dinner:

April 17, 1990
"Jesus Christ did not tell us to give each other some cuddly little Easter Bunny. He told us to feed the hungry." -Rev. Larry Rice, explaining why he served barbecued rabbit at an Easter dinner for the homeless in St. Louis.

The first couple of times the local TV news would send a "shocked" reporter.  The response from the recipients was pretty much, "It's a darned good rabbit.  Maybe not as good as grandma used to make,"ut still real tasty!"  Lately, they just report it as one of the regular seasonal news bits.

I like that.  ;D

It is definitely more practical and to my mind more rewarding, to feed the homeless and other less fortunate a nice rabbit dinner than to give one as a pet.

Rabbit meat is more nutritious than chicken and any recipe you can do with chicken you can do with a rabbit and in my opinion better tasting.

Rabbits do make good pets -- we had a Netherlands dwarf who lived for about 11 years.  Very friendly, easy to take care of and great with kids.

Of course, there's not a lot of meat on the dwarf breeds...

Do I hear the Eagles Hotel California wafting up through the computer??

Best of luck on the job situation cause I think the rabbit business might be a bit harey. ;D ;D ;D

We ate alot of rabbit when I was a kid, back then we could only get horse meat, but you cant beat fried rabbit, way better than chicken.
don't see it in the market very often. Do you think it's popular enough to make a living growing the little blighters ?
Ever thought of Sable ? a smallish Sable haired water color brush will set you back $25 to $30  ,just a thought.

Im reading a book on keeping small livestock, first chapter is on rabbits. Says rabbit is the best payoff on raising a meat crop.

It ain't no get rich quick business, but when done correctly a rabbitry can bring in a decent living. I used to raise rabbits when I was younger for the pet market and I did fairly well with just twenty does. But the meat market is a better pay off.

I have been doing quite a bit of research and there are processors all around the country that are screaming for more rabbits because they can't keep up with the demand.

Free ranging the rabbits is not doing a rabbitry correctly. It may look cute on advertising, but there is no way to control the breeding schedule and trying to keep records is virtually impossible.

Essentially the same as Caribou ... a very popular and widely available game food up here on The Rock. "Rabbit Catchin'" as it's known here is in season during the Fall and early Winter ... either by setting snares out in the woods or shooting with rifle with the help of a Beagle to flush 'em out. Wild rabbits (which are actually Snowshoe Hares here) are another popular game food ... my Dad used to go Rabbit Catchin' every Autumn ... always hated the smell of 'em cookin' as a kid ... most popular dish is a baked Rabbit Pie ... sort of a thick stew with a pastry crust over top.

EDIT: Here's a recipe;

Good luck with you ventures and job search Yonuh!

Sorry to read about your lost Yonus .

Years ago I had a Honda CB350 (71 mod).   It got tired and I sold it.    Had a lot of bikes (bigger and faster) and still missed my  +_ 350 lb. 30 HP. FUN MACHINE.

Till I got on a Savage , the Savage has the same "Feel" to it.

I trully hope you have a simular experence in your future.

Good luck with the , Fried Rabbit Back - I'd like to have some right now.

8-)
