Freemasons you mean. I think it's the Kiwanis that wear the Fez. |
Title: Re: Giddy yup?... Post by mick on 11/16/10 at 22:31:32 I know a famous comedian called "Tommy Cooper" used to wear one. you guys are to young to remember him. |
Title: Re: Giddy yup?... Post by mpescatori on 11/17/10 at 06:44:42 I'm not too old to remember Tommy Cooper, he had a hoarse voice, sounded a bit like Jimmy Durante. Freemasons don't wear a fez, nor any other kind of headgear. I cannot speak for US Lodges, you've evolved into something completely different anyway. Too much isolationism from the Old World and all that. The photo shows a "Balilla", a young Italian Boy Scout from the Mussolini years. You can tell because the fez is black and sports a miniature roman fasces as a badge. He appears to be riding a "mechanical horse" of sorts, odd contraption powered by a motorcycle engine which was expected to trot or gallop as you twisted the throttle. Then again, why a Boy Scout and not a Cavalry Officer ? Expendable ? ::) PS Serowbot, where did you find the picture ? |
