Title: Hello. Anyone live near Central Maine?
Post by sgtsampay on 09/14/10 at 06:12:53

Hi all. I'm very interested in finding a person who lives in or near Central Maine is a willing to meet me somewhere and answers questions about the savage and then become riding buddies or whatever. I know its sounds like a strange request, but I'm really would like to try out the savage before i buy and no dealer around lets you test ride anything without having to buy it first. LOL. Thanks again.

That's a very strange practice from the dealer, I always took test drive here in NY, they take a copy of driving license that's all. I understand the risk but it must be tough to make a sell.

You would think he would have more trust in a fellow Maineiac.

Yeah the dealerships here are strange. The ones who do allow test rides want you to have the bike all financed and such, so if you do break it, it yours already. They says that will also deter people from test driving the bikes and not buy one after.  :'(I don't care for this practice but it what they all do, so I have no choice. This is why I'm asking for help from another source.

Organize all your bikers into a boycot.  Buy only from other places until the dealers learn not to treat customers that way.
A thing like this could spread over the whole country.

Before I bought my used Savage I asked for a test drive. The sales person said they didn't do that. I could start it in the lot and drive it there, (IMHO that isn't very smart on their part to have a person possibility running over the display stock) but that was all. I had an M/C endorsement and check for the Savage that I was willing to let him hold. I also insisted one of his sales folks accompanied me. The manager/owner was reluctant until I started across the sales floor with my helmet under my arm and check and license back in my packet. He relented, I got the test drive and bought the bike. Hope he maybe reconsidered company policy after that.  Max
